So, I've had my dreads for about 2 1/2 months now. Backcombed them in tight, no wax and just let them be. I've been washing my hair regularly with Dr. Bronners, diluted... doing everything right as far as I can tell... However, my dreads are all falling out and not knotting up at all. My hair is naturally curly.. so instead of knotting or anything the hair that's fallen out just makes one large curl... no knots to speak of, if I wanted to I could run a comb cleanly through the curl. This is really stating to frustrate me and I don't know what to do! Any advice??

be patient. everyone i know with great dreads says patience is the key. they'll fall out and clump up and do it all on their own if you let them do their thing. you can root rub or palm roll or swim in the ocean or do any number of things to encourage them. some say it works, some say it doesn't, you'll have to try different things. good luck on your journey!

iv had dreads for 7 months and only a few have like an inch of knotted hair so dont worry about it. i find the sea helps alot, palm rolling only helps me unflatten them, root rubbing knots my roots up really well. try some of those.

iv never used dr bonners though i wash my hair every 1-2 weeks with sea salt, pure lemon, cider vinegar, baking soda and tea tree oil mixed in warm water. that does it for me!
