To organic vegeatarian Chili its so good I am planning on fasting to stop my body from getting to used to it. But it really is good does anyone else like it?
Maybe it's the MSG(monosodiumglutamate) - is there fake meat in it, or anything that is hydrolized? It could actually be addictive...
I usually make a huge pot of it in the winter and then we feed off it for days.....there is def. no MSG....but it is filled with a whole lotta GOOOOD!!! Wholesome yummy foods are highly addictive!
Sure thing, just keep in mind that I do not tend to write recipes down and/or use measuring devices…some I’ll try to convert my “dashes” and “handfuls” in teaspoons and cups : ) First thing, you need a BIG POT. Set it on the stove and add 2 tbsp. Olive oil over medium heat. Add to the pot: 1 Large Yellow Onion (chopped) 1 Green Bell Pepper (Chopped and Seeded) 1 Red Bell Pepper (Chopped and Seeded) 2 Tbsp. Minced FRESH Garlic 3 Carrots (Peeled and Sliced Into Nickel Sized Rounds) ~ Let cook, shakin’ um up about 5 minutes ~ Add To The Pot: 5 Large Portobello Mushrooms (Stemmed, Wiped and Cut Into Cubes) 1 Medium Zucchini (Unpeeled, But Diced) 2 Cups Fresh Corn Kernels 1 Celery Stalk (Diced) ~ Let cook about 5-7 more minutes, shakin’ it often until veggies become soft and slightly brown ~ Add To The Pot: 3 Tbsp. Chili Powder 1 Tbsp. Cumin (Ground, Not Whole) A Pinch of Salt (Add to your liking) A Big Pinch of Cayenne Pepper ~ Stir it, shake it ~ Add To The Pot: 5 Large Tomatoes (Peeled, Seeded and Chopped) ½ Cup Sliced Black Olives 1 Cup Red Kidney Bean (Drained and Rinsed) 1 Cup Butter Beans ½ Cup Black Beans ½ Cup Cannellini Beans ½ Cup Garbanzo Beans 1 (15 oz.) Can Tomato Sauce 1 Cup Veggie Stock ~ Stir, shake, alternate the stir and the shake ~ Bring To Boil. Reduce Heat and Simmer On Low (About An Hour) You Can Eat It Plain Or Put It Over Pasta, Brown Rice, etc. or top it with soy cheese crumbles, avocado or whatever you would like! You can add meat substitute crumbles when you add the beans if you want, but it really does not need it. ENJOY! And remember it is always better the day after!
I use fantastic, and add on to the recipe on the back, an extra can of diced tomatoes (2 tomato cans and 2 beans in total, usually kidney) and the morning star crumbles as another extra. (quorn's is okay but I prefer morningstar for this) everyone LOVES it. meat eaters and vegetarians alike. my brother in law hates vegetables, and anything non meat, but was eating it up like there was no tomorrow, and he always made fun of vegetarian food!!!! even him, the stubborn bastard he is, admitted it was better than any chilli his fat ass has ever eaten before. haha. but yes it is good. but I don't know if it's vegan. I think it may be except for the morningstar crumbles, which, as I mentioned, is an extra I add.
p.s. a good chip to go with it, and it may be vegan, I don't know, is veggie crisps. I prefer the sundried tomatoe brand but regular is good too. and of course hot sauce!!!
what ingredients IN the chili would not be vegan? (or are some people putting really odd stuff in?) basically: beany things tomato onion, onion and more onion garlic more onion chilies and more chiles (I have more than 30 different dried chilies, and a dozen ground chilies and blends) magical mystery spices, raw and toasted ground nuts for thickening one square of organic vegan darkest chocolate I can find per person to be served.
There are only two things that are non-vegan in some chili....obviously meat and chicken and or beef stock.....alot of recipes out there call for a stock and its usually a meat type.....I make my own stock and freeze it (less salt that way)....
huh. I just whizz the can of fire roasted tomatoes in the blender and lob in some veggie better than bullion paste.
