Yep, my car was impounded. Lame, folks... really lame. So I go outside to take my car to the gas station to put air in the tires... and it's not there. Not a good feeling, let me tell you. So my first thought is it was stolen! But, luckilly, it wasn't. I called the impound place, and sure enough, there it was. Apparently, you're not allowed to park your car on the street for more than 72 hours... even though I live in an apartment in the city where I don't have a driveway or parking spot. Nice, eh? So the guy tells me to go to the corner of Mercer & Fairview to pick up my car. So I think, that's cool, that's close enough to walk to. So I walk the 2 miles to get there, and the guy at the counter says they don't have my car. () The guy on the phone screwed up and told me to go to the wrong place. However, it ended up working to my advantage, because one of the tow guys gave me a lift across town to where my car really was. He was very nice, but not very bright. He told me about when he lived in Los Angeles and his bus stop was in front of some mental institution where Terminator was shot. What the fuck, right? But he was nice enough. So I finally get my car... $200. Splendid. And I owe the City of Seattle some cash as well. So I leave the place, get down the road, and realize that I left my registration at the fucking impound place. () So I had to go back and get that. Ugh. Bad times, bad times... I need sleep.
damn, that sucks. happened to me and my friend last month.. we walked like 10 miles all over the city looking for a bank that worked all night cuz he didnt have any money... it was about $100 and we were home at 5 am. haha, terminator...
Youch. Are you doing okay financially, enough to get through? And congratulations on using the word "eh" in proper Canadian context. I'm astonished.
At least it's an adventure. You should just bike Seattle, it seems hip enough to be bike friendly. Good exercise too.
my car got impounded once when i was in florida for spring break. the tow place gave me a price on the phone, but they gave me bad directions to the place so after walking for about 4 hours, i finally got there and the price had gone up $50 dollars because by then it was considered two days instead of one. luckily i had gotten a little extra money out of the bank, or i would probably have had to walk another 3 hours
thats bullshit. i've never heard of that law. sounds unfair to me...but theres really not much you can do. sorry derek
they usually chalk the back tires. its highly unlikely you're tires would be in the same exact position..
I found out they were going to put my car up for auction if I didn't pick it up when I did. () Now that's bullshit.
