.....do you use wool soakers for covers? With my first two, I used rubber pants and it wasn't until shortly after my son was OUT of diapers that I found out about wool soakers. I've crocheted up a couple of pairs from a kick-ass pattern on livejournal (http://chalynm.livejournal.com/tag/punk+knitters for any mamas interested in making some) and was wondering if you have any advice for proper care ect. of the soaker?
Thanks for the pattern link! I've a couple friends who are due in the next few weeks, I think I may stitch a few of these up!
be sure to lanolize them. This helps wick away moisture. And they last longer. I use a squirt of Lansinoh in warm sink water. Than dry.
I cloth diaper, but don't use wool soaks. I have a wool allergy, and I worry about my son developing one too.
I didn't use wool for the same reason...I do wish I could wear it... I've also heard of people felting old sweaters and sewing diaper covers from them.
knitin_chick. Wish I could be of some help to you but I use rubber pants on both my 8 month old and my 2 year old. Just don't like the idea of wool as an outer. Seems unsanitary to me.
i do cloth diaper....but unfortunetly i do not use wool soakers.... i've heard you do indeed need to lanolize them....
