I want to move somewhere to chop wood and raise llamas.

Geology is pretty cool... my stepdad is a Geologist even though he only worked as a Geologist in diamond mines in South Africa for a couple of years. He went to college... looked at all the majors... and decided to study the one he knew the least about...

    Geology :D

I like economics too, not enough to major in it but ive taken a few courses for my minor. My opinion about the min wage, and this is not researched just a guess, is that a lot of companies use it as a variable when pricing goods and services.

But to me whats more devasting to people riding the poverty line is the federal reserve bank and the stock market. When they inflate the economy by doing things like printing more currency, the value of the money we earned and saved or will earn becomes less.

How much economics are you familiar with? Because even basic logic suggests it...

Take the real wage function of W/P = RW.

Price of many things - expected future price being one of them, but also cost (ie: wages) being another. So if wages are expected to increase, so will prices and the real wage won't actually increase.

If I had less vodka in me I'd explain it a hell of a lot better, and if you're really interested PM me and i'll show you some good places to start your research.

Geology is fun, but the only jobs available for it around here are mining and oil exploration.

Neither of which are particularly fun or stable.
