Ok my dready friends; I want to hear your craziest, most astonishing, shocking, and even terrible, stories! What has happened to your dreads, or becuase of your dreads?
Getting caught on this x-ray machine at the dentist yesterday...the one that rotates around your head for like 18 seconds. It was interesting.
When I was.... thirteen....I had my first experience with "homelessness" (I put it this way because I had a home w/ family, could have gone back anytime... but chose to hang out a couple hours away instead. They thought they knew where I was most of the time, staying with friends, but in reality I spent most of my nights on the street). It was a summer-time thing, and I was rarely sober. Or clean. I had one of those swinger hats, you know, with a bill and a loose, poofy kind of fabric bound with elastic around the bottom edge. I had really curly hair, and at the time it was mid-back length. Maybe a little shorter. I kept it up in the hat, and I swear it must have been a month at least before I took it off! I had unidread bad, bad bad. It was pretty goofy. Before I went home that year I cut it down to <1", bleached it, and dyed it smurf blue. That was the beginning of about 3 years of short hair, without my natural haircolor. (After about 3 years I started to let it go, and from that point found myself to where I am now.... 6-7 years later...)
wow. those are pretty interesting stories. I suppose I should tell mine. Well, it was the summer, my dreads were probably a little over a year old. I was helping my dads girlfriend with this animal show she had. She would go around to small schools and daycares and librarys and do little shows. I was kinda like the snake handler. I would hold the snakes and answer any questions the kids had and made sure they treated the snakes right. So I had one around my neck and I felt it moving up my neck and on my head. That was fine until it started to hurt. The snake had found itself entangled in the roots, it hard to explain. But it was stuck. We couldnt get it out. So here I am, walking around with this snake in my hair, on top of my head. I went out to luch like that, and in the car. Finally we were driving and the snake worked its way out. Thank God I love snakes
oh god...there's just something about snakes that creeps me out, having one stuck in my hair is probably the worst thing that could happen o_o
I just remember it hurt pretty bad. People already looked at me pretty oddly, but with the snake I am sure they were really confused. It really is a good thing I am extremely comfortable with snakes, but then again if I wasn't I probably wouldn't have had one in my hair...
thats awesome lol ive had snakes in my hair but not when it was dreaded. its the coolest feeling but i can totaly see them getting caught. ive never held a large snake either but theyre sooo beautiful, i always catch garter snakes that are all over the place here (caught one today actually). i handle them a bit and then let them go. they actually make really good pets but i dont like taking them away from their homes.
I have had a pretty bad dread happening before. alright so a little while back my dad decides he wants a beagal puppy,so me and my mom go and get on. well, soon after he gets over the stage were hes really frightened by everything, we find taht he likes to chew on anything he can get in his mouth (and i mean anything, he had a bad experience with a thorn bush once). so one day i was laying on the couch and he comes running up and jumps on me and starts sniffing around, well he runs along the back of the couch and ends up by my head. i wasnt thinking anything of it at the time, but he grabs a dread and i must have scared him cause i got shocked by it, and he jumps off of the couch.....with the dread in his mouth. i dont think i have ever felt such a head pain in my life, and it was bruised for quite awhile and all of that, but luckily it didnt quite pull out, it was a thick one.
Ok, so he jumped off the couch WITH the dread in his mouth......so he was like swinging from your dread? omg......oh.....OMG...thats gotta hurt! Did ya tan his bottom?
lol, nah he was just being a puppy, after a few ouches i checked to make sure his little teeth and all of my dreads were still attached.
...i'm scared to think of how you will treat your future kids if you would kill or hurt a puppy for being scared and playing around. my son has definitely pulled on my dreads and i would never hurt him for it.
