Mine are still babies, but I'm noticing they are knotting up quicker in the middle than anywhere else... not sure if this is bad, good, or neither...

It's kind of irritating because with the roots just kind of hanging out for the time being, they mingle easily...in my sleep, under hats, or if I wear them up. I keep trying to rub them with wool, or even do some minimal backcombing at the roots, but I guess they just aren't ready to knot quite yet.

The tips don't bother me so much... they aren't knotting quickly, but it doesn't concern me like the roots do.

The roots for me though, quite possibly aren't knotting quickly, because they DO like to mingle, so I'm forced to have to rip them apart on almost a daily basis, and I'd imagine that kind of hinders the knotting process ... I just don't know what else to do when they do that though. If I'd leave them, I have no doubt in my mind, I'd end up having a total of like 5 dreads on my head....

Anyway, that's how mine seem to be coming along, but it seems like it's different for everyone.

Who cares if they get a little flat? So long as they are knotting, I wouldn't be too worried. I have a few flat ones, and they are my favorites because they seem to be the tightest. I don't worry so long as they feel tight, and knotted...

I'm guessing some of the flat dreads could be caused by sleeping and the like. I wouldn't be too concerned, it will probably work itself out in time, if you don't like it.

Hmmm....mine seem to have knotted up in all different ways. A couple of them are all good and dready except for the tips, then I have some that are tight at the roots, and then a few odd ones that are pretty tight at both the roots and tips, yet not the middle.... I still have a shitload of loose hairs, but I am willing to endure the test of time:)

my baby dreadies are only just over two weeks old .. i got a friend to divide my hair up and then another friend backcombed them, but not too tight, i want them to form mostly on their own with just that small initial assistance .. my hair has shrunk a lot, about half its length i'd say, but i now have 63 little blonde fuzzy sausages! :D some of them are a little thin but the ones i've had for a couple of months (4 of them) seem to be looping and tightening up quite nicely. they're pretty much long tangles and all have long, wispy ends hanging down. i love my dreadies!

Usually palm rolling lots when you wake up, will help the flatness, phen.
