like comemorative plates, glass figurines, limited edition coke bottles, etc etc? what kind of useless crap do you collect?
i used to save up my bottle caps to try and figure out how much alcahol i consume in a month. it was just plain sad.
haha and my brother used to collect those little flavor packets that come in the ramen soup things. what a dumbass. and he went through this phase where he used to hide things. most people go through this phase from the ages of like 3-5. he went through it when he was like 8-10. anyways, like a few months ago we were cleaning the living room and like switching around furniture and we found hoards of those little soup flavor packets like under the tv, buried in flower pots, taped under the table, ect.
I collect hummels. I really don't like them but it was started when I was born so I feel like if I don't pretend I'm into them I will hurt my grandma and mom. Ohhh I also collect shoes.
When m&m was doing those hippie commericals I record that and I collected the bags because the m&m were dressed up like hippies.
is that when they had speckled m&m's? those looked icky...I never wanted to eat them and I love m&m's.
i read something in a book a long time ago, about stuff like that. they called the "pink sweater phenomenon" or something. it goes like this: you buy a pink sweater. you wear it out, and say your mom sees you in it, and decides you look good in pink. she buys you another pink sweater for your birthday. everyone else sees you wearing your pink sweaters, at various times, and concludes you must really like pink. before you know it, everyone you know buys you pink stuff, usually sweaters., all because of the one sweater that you bought, that you may not have even liked that much. everything snowballs. your family will probably buy you hummels forever, and when you die, your kids will talk about mom, and her massive collection of damn hummels. they'll think you really liked them.
kinda geeky looking figurines, popular with the little old lady crowd. i think they are usually of children.
oh! I see...I thought it was a gun...I was like what kind of grandma collects guns and passes them down from generation to generation...lol It's offical I'm a dumbass!
Oh my god the pink thing rings true too. I am a twenty-three year old woman living in a room with pink tiles and pink walls and my old pink toe shoes in frames. the whole house is getting painted in two months though so it will be the end of pink. lol that is so true though. I never liked pink.
i used to collet magic: the gathering cards...spent far to much money on them. I also collected, warhammer and warhammer 40k models...and spent far to much money on those aswell. i still collect warhammer 40k a little, tinker around with the plastic and metal models i have (slaaneshi chaos marines and ulthwe eldar to any who also feel the uncontrollable need to spent money on games workshop products) oh and when i was a kid i collected rocks and stamps
the only thing I really collect is live music recordings. I collect live shows from many different bands, but I'm a border line freak about collecting live Grateful Dead shows - I've been collecting shows by the Dead off and on since I was 13. Oh and I REFUSE to throw away pairs of skis. I get a new pair every couple of years or so, but hold onto the old ones forever - they remind me of the good times I had on them out on the slopes.
I collect old hotel room keys (the plastic cards) I had a healthy collection of salt and pepper shakers from various places... bouncy balls... interesting bottles... empty lighters, concert tickets... small pieces of paper with little drawings on them by people I know or knew...
shit i collect: still have all my old letters from high school. they're too funny to throw away. i collect this old green glassware that looks sorta like this: i also have way too many clothes and shoes. lots of times i feel like pitching all my stuff in the trash though, because i have too much of everything, and it's always in the way.
I collect viewmasters and viewmaster reels and it does feel dumb sometimes because the only one interested in that stuff is me.
tennis matches.. some I've never watched and probably will never watch.. but in the future if my kid ever says to me - gee I wish I could watch Federer play then I'll sure have plenty of matches for him to watch .
