well, i am 17, and i want to learn to cook, but i also want to start incorporating more vegetarian meals into my diet, and eventually sever my connection with meat, however, i really dont know how to cook, but i am willing to learn, and i also dont know how to make vegitarian meals or quick lunches please help thank you
let's start with basics: can you boil water? do you know these terms and how to do them: stir fry, saute, simmer, roast if not, you need a cook book rather than a recipe book. the absolute best veg process book is Tassajara Cooking. For omnis, it is Joy of Cooking, and well worth the read (think your free library here). watch the cooking shows. For some veggies, watching them can set in a case of the gross-out twitch, but it shouldn't bother you pre-conversion. What you will be trying to pick up is process of a cooking technique. Does anyone in the family cook? Are they willing to put you to work prepping the food and teach you the rest? here is your first homework: make guacamole. http://www.premiersystems.com/recipes/appetizers/guacamole.html http://www.elise.com/recipes/archives/000159perfect_guacamole.php
