    I realize it's a fad right now,
And I'll admit it- probably a lame one-
but I was wondering if anyone had tips on how
they make their own ripped jeans.
I've always made my own after buying pairs from
thrift stores or the clearance rack
    and can never get the
    technique quite right..
but I wouldn't go out and pay good money for a
pre-ripped pair of jeans.. it seems.. well, off.
I've always loved ripped jeans in the summer..
so much better than wearing sweltering hot,
    skin tight jeans.
Plus, rippy jeans are kind of badass in a tiny, unoffensive way.. ;)
    So... TIPS.. haha, I've rambled.

ha-for some reason, i keep getting holes in my jeans only on the left knee...weird!
i heard taking a razor and running it down the fabric gives it that worn-stringy-hole look, as opposed to just cutting it with scissors, making it seem less natural

whole in the jeans go in and out of style about every 10 years. It was the style when I was younger too and I used a razor blade and just frade the fabric a little where I wanted wholes then i picked at it and washed them a few times that worked for me. Make sure you don't cut all the way through the fabric that way it looks worn and not cut.

my boyfriend's mom says she used to lay hers over the fence and shoot them..but since she is a crazy crackhead i'm not sure if i believe her or not. i mean, how could that even work without blowing the back out too?

    here is what i do
get a pair of jeans with a tiny bit of wear... you know how some people make them with little tiny rope-y sections (did that make sense)?
wear the hell out of them
    doodle upon them

    recipe for favorite jeans ever.

ive done a few different things to my jeans to give them that ripped look. if you just want it around the knee are i used a cheese greater and sandpaper (sandpaper take more time tho i feel it gives it a more narually ripped look) for the quickest way like if you just want a more clean cut than use a knife and use either sand paper or cheese grater on the cut ends.

ive also cut the bottom seeming off and that gives it a cool look as well

wash em' several million times. but first cut some holes in the knees. washing helps wear at the holes so they get kind of stringy. also you could get your jeans just a little too long and cut off the hem at the bottom of the legs so the edges fray. very cool. :H
