Great White Shark 'Seen In Cornwall' A 12ft shark fin belonging to "Britain's Jaws" has been filmed sticking out of the sea at a beach in Cornwall. It was originally thought to be a harmless Basking shark, but experts have inspected the footage and believe it could be a Great White. Catherine Price, who took the pictures 200 yards from the beach at St Ives, said: "You could see the fins just like Jaws as it swam through the water. It was absolutely huge." It is the second such sighting. Holidaymaker Nick Fletcher also filmed what he thought was a fearsome man-eater. But there has been a twist to the tale. Fisherman in New-lynn say they have caught the big fish, which experts say is a porbeagle - a cousin of the Great White but not nearly as dangerous. But coastguards have dismissed the sighting claims as "utter rubbish" and "scaremongering". Richard Peirce, chairman of the Shark Trust, watched the footage and said it was impossible to make a conclusive identification or say if it was a Great White - immortalised in the 1975 Steven Spielberg film Jaws. Another, my arse. It's the same one and I bet it's one big fucking basking shark anyways. We've had stories like that for years and years and it always turns out to be a basking shark.
that was freaky cause it was the day i'd come back from cornwall for a week, and Jaws was on tv and i'd just finished watching it like "woo, at least you don't get them round here"... then straight away that headline came on the news about the shark in cornwall... looool.
You would think that it is too cold in that part of the Atlantic for large Carcharodon. And you'd be wrong
Nope they arent ment to BUT a marine boioligst (sp) said that he saw the fin and yup it was a shark Cliamte change is going to make different animals get confused and go everywhere nothing wrong with it though, only a shark if we choose to go for a dip in THEIR home we have to take the risks
It's all bollocks. There is similar stories every year, just this one's escalated because there's not much else going on in Britain at the moment.
