i think it's a wanna be hippie kid who lives off mommy and daddy's $ or trust funds, hence the name trustifarian. that just what i've been told, i may be totally wrong though.
Urban Dictionary quote, 1. trustifarian A poser hippy who is actually living off a sizable bank account (ie trust fund). Can you believe all the trustifarians who got box seats for the Dylan show? Dude.
I want to be a trustafarian! Really, though, I've known quite a few of these and while the derogatory nature of the term is often fits, you can't really hold the size of ones bank account against them. Would any of us turn down a wad of money? I had a friend who lived in his school bus on the land we rented while we were in school. He lived the spartan life of the bus dwelling hippie eating vegan beans and rice, buying his clothes from the second hand stores and generally living a conscience life. Once folks found out he had tons of money and could have lived anyway he wanted they began calling him a poser trustafarian.
See that's unfortunate. Having money doesn't make you a trustafarian necessarily, using said money does. There are lots of people like that on the appalacian trail (they can afford to just not work for 6-8 months) that just have mad cash and go travel the world.
So then did he become a trustafarian when he used his cash to go see the Dead on their 1990 Europe tour when the rest of us couldn't even think about going, or did he become a trustafarian when he bought 60 acres of land in NoCal for his homestead? Or does one become a trustafarian when the rest of us get jealous.
Do you not think this is pathetic. Do you need to massage your ego so much. Who cares how much money somone has, if you judge somone by that you are arrogant have no place judging others. First people do good things and bad things with money, some neither. Look if you are given money or inherit it you shouold either donate it or use it, letting it sit does nothing. Live lifestyle you wanna live let others live theirs, you are no better than them because you pad your ego by embracing a media created steriotype so fully you cannot tolerate others variatins or perceptions. Sorry man your not right, nobody is. Everyones wrong so let them chose how. If somone has money, and lives like you say a "hippie" lives, and they help pelpe with the money, organize charities, funds, help artists with free festivials or just enjoy their life, whats it to why would you put them down. I beleive the more you have the more you want, so i try to use little and grow or wildcraft my foods and things and im still learning, but i dont claim to have the answers and have no right to judge somone who drives a lovely car and eats 5 course meat filled meals on only that basis. If they think thats were its at more power to'em Timothy leary ate only meat and eggs, said humans were superoer and eating veggies was a crime, man im vegan but i dont rant against leary. Live and let live quite beiung so angry and just laugh man look different poeple can be freinds to take a brake relax Time is candy eat some.
Hi moonblossom. I think that was the point of my posts exactly. I used an example of a great brother that happened to have money, but still did his best to live life embracing kindness to the environment and simple living, that became labled as a trustafarian once it was realized that he had money and did not need his job washing dishes in the vegan cafe. I'm a little confused as to who is massaging their ego. My point was exactly that, why should you treat someone differently just because they have money? Unfortunately people do as in the case of my friend. Peace and welcome.
I would love to be your sugar daddy, but uhh for some reason i think that comment was pointed. My face wears the mask my mind refuses.
I have known some really cool trusties, and some total jerk trusties. Depends on what they DO with that ease of travel, in my book. and yeah, I'm a tad jealous.
I have never heard of Leary only eating meat and eggs.... but Owsley Bear who made acid and was a soundman for the dead only eats Meat and has been doing it for 47 years. He has been described as somewhat egotistical. He believes that our bodies are not designed to ingest Carbohydrates and I think he is right.
My parents have money, they give it to me, I spend it on my friends. I give a lot to the homeless. They think I'm spoiled... but I know that the money is going to a good cause. Money doesn't make the person.
