Sometimes when I start sewing, my fabric gets stuck in the feeder and... I don't know... kinda sucked into the black hole that's in the middle, ya know? And I have to yank/cut it out. Only sometimes, though. I think it might have something to do with where I put the threads, because if I remember to pull the top one from the front to the back, it doesn't happen. Am I just holding the threads in the wrong place to begin with? Is my sewing machine just a portal to the netherworld? You tell me.
Perhaps you have the wrong size needle? A fat needle on slinkier fabrics might push it into the hole. I'm not sure. Good luck!
i can't explain when that same thing happens to me, but what i do is i take out the bobbin, unscrew the little round pieces (there are two) that sit behind the bobbin, just sorta clean the whole thing out a bit (q-tips) and then put it back together. that helps with my similar problem.
that was happening to mine a while back- in addition to what you described, there'd be a big wad of thread and some strange sounds. after taking out the bobbin thingy and cleaning it, I finally oiled it, and what difference it has made!!
yeah, that happens to me too. i've never oiled my machine. any pointers on how to do so? where exactly do you oil, how much oil, what is your insertion technique?
I got oil at the fabric store and put a drop or 2 where the manual instructed. Maybe if you do a google search for your specific sewing machine you might find where to put it or at least contact info for the company that made it to send you a manual. I guess it is specific to each model. Here's a link as an example that has all the Singer models with an online manual for even the really old machines. http://www.singermachines.co.uk/Parts_&_Ser/indstbooks.htm There are some on www.singerco.com hope that helps
