Anyone into Vai, Satriani, Yngwie, Buckethead, Rustey Cooley, Gilbert, Petrucci, or anyone similar? Me and a lot of my friends play guitar, bass or drums so when we are driving around somewhere it's more likely for us to listen to something like a solo artist than a band. Even when we do listen to bands, it's often Rush, Queen, or a cheesey 80's band like Europe. For the past couple of years I've been really into Stone Sour and I can really appreciate Jim Root's style and creativity. His signature Tele just came out so I may have to take a look at that if Guitar Center or Sam Ash has them in stock. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Buckethead. Yngwie may have perfect technique but Buckethead is a true musical genius. He's a well rounded player from country to blues to shred. To get the conversation going, here's a couple videos: http://youtube.com/watch?v=8akmP6Sjv2o Buckethead-Whitewash (Live) http://youtube.com/watch?v=vUE__SQWJVg&mode=related&search= Jim Root and Josh Rand playing Hell and Consequences in a studio. Jim is on the top and Josh is on the bottom.
I googled The Offspring and most of the hits were Kevin Wasserman. Searched Youtube and found nothing. I don't remember the Offspring doing anything to put them on the level of Vai and Yngwie. So what about this guy?
nah, I was kidding. sorry. I don't really like the Offspring and if you're into Steve Vai and stuff, you probably wouldn't either.
I thought it may have been sarcasm but it wasn't the usual "spray Windex on your buds to make them more potent." I wouldn't say I hate the Offspring but I'm really sick of pop/punk powerchord bands. If you want to use powerchords you better have the gain past 7 and someone in your band that can sing. If I wanted to hear a girl scream, I'd grab a nice set of titties not turn on Panic! at the Disco or My Chemical Romance.
Shit, I totally forgot about Batio. I guess the only reason why I don't listen to him as much is I prefer Yngwie over Batio. Fat arrogance FTW! He's definitely on the same level as Yngwie though, his technique is flawless and he's another master of sweeps. Guys like Wylde and Dime I put into a different category. If me and my friends have a craving for insane amounts of gain and pinch harmonics we immediately go to Pantera or Black Label Society. I just can only listen to this or Project Pat when me and my friends are smoking cigars.
I appreciate the fact that some of them play classical, but other than that Im not into it, at all honestly. Neo classical just isnt my thing, I guess I prefer the nylon string
Nothing wrong with that at all, especially if you can still appreciate their music and not bash them. I've seen a few videos of Yngwie playing some classical stuff on an acoustic at his house. He was pretty fucking drunk. Found another favorite Buckethead video, Nottingham Lace. What he does at 4:07 just defines his badassness. Or maybe it's because he is just strange. http://youtube.com/watch?v=vYxrdrzmuUw
LMFAO! Buckethead owns madd ass. Y'ever listen to the song Ignorance is Bliss, by C2B3? The guitar solo that comes after the two chorus' and is right before the bridge. Damn, it is intense as shit to listen to when coming down on shrooms, man.
Breakfast food kicks ass. Nothing beats waking up at 4pm after a long night and deciding you want chocolate chip pancakes from dinner. Vactom, couldn't find that song on Youtube unless your talking about some guys from the 80's playing a really cheesy song.
The song was made in 2003 I believe. I'm sure my bandwith will sky-rocket. Enjoy it before I take it down in 2 hours Edit: Took it down as OP logged out... lawl..
my brother is into all those bands.. i only know of those people from him. lol but he likes buckethead, and he likes zakk wylde too.. dunno if he qualifies for this category or not.
you should check out Apocalyptica.. talk about 3 swedes turning the cello into one of the sickest instruments out there
