    How well does this really work? How long would I not be able to have sex for every month. I was going to go on the pill, but I just can't do it. I don't want the food cravings and low sex drive and all that.

    well, from what i've read and heard about it is not very effective at all.

    would you rather gain weight from eating, or gain weight from getting pregnant? the decision is yours. if you don't want they weight from hunger cravings and don't want a child, then use a condom or just don't have sex.

    Uhm...I would rather gain weight from getting pregnant than gain weight from eating unhealthy amounts of unhealthy food and clogging my arteries. I am 25, getting pregnant would not be the worst thing in the world. it's not like I am a crack whore who's going to have to worry who my baby daddy is.

    But I would rather wait a year or two before I start popping out kids-idealy and when I'm done get my tubes tied and not have to worry about it anymore.

    and not wanting kids so bad that I didn't have sex might be a bit insulting to my fiancee....just a thought...it's not practical for me to just 'not have sex'.

    did you guys really stick to not having sex for those 7 days you were fertile? What about the rythm method and pulling out at the same time?

    theyre only sketchy if you arent in a committed monogamous relationship. and std + an iud = very bad news indeed, but as long as youre both clean it should be fine. sometimes the thread has to be snipped shorter if the guy can feel it, but thats not too common. just make sure you get it changed when you need to (forget the timeline, once a year or once every two years?) bercause leaving it in is bad news too

    Right before, and after your period your pretty safe, but it's not always 100%. If you don't like condoms and your that concerned their are other activities you can engage in. Two other places he might 'enter' with noconcern whatever of your getting pregnant.

    My wife and I have also had three rhythm method conceptions. I wouldn't recommend it as a method of birth control unless you are planning to have children a bit later and are in a lifetime relationship. In our case it postponed the children we planned to have, but not as long as we hoped.

    The Rhythm Method is why strict Catholics have more kids.

    Well I wish you happiness and love with each other in life. The year or two plan was ours as well. We managed not to get pregnant for about ten months useing the rhythm method. So I guess that time with the nine month pregnancy was kind of like a year or two.[IMG]

    first of all, do you have a regular menstrual cycle, meaning it always starts when you expect it to, every 28 days? if you do, then count day one as the day your period starts. day 14 is normally when the egg is released and it survives for 2 days and you can only get pregnant when it is released. sperm can live up to two days so if you have sex on day 12 and release an egg on day 14, you can still get pregnant. since eggs can survive for 2 days, you don't want to have sex from day 12-day 16. hope that helps! it's only five days, and you can use a condom/just oral/anal/any other method for those 5 days and you should be a-ok! remember, only use the rhythm method if you have a regular cycle and it's been regular for a long time!

    summary:
    days 1-11 -> have sex!
    days 12-16 -> use protection!
    days 17-28 -> have sex!
    repeat cycle :)

    The rhythm method is when the male withdraws his penis just prior to egaculation.

    The belief is that if a man doesn't cum in a woman, she won't get pregnant.

    The fact is, that there are live swimmers (sperm) in the clear fluid, sometimes called "pre-cum", that men expell from their penis and this is how the woman gets pregnant.
