Ever since my first son was born it has been flat fold diapers, vinyl pull-on pants, and pins around the clock. Nothing out of the ordinary by any means. A few months ago I bought 4 pairs of nylon pull-on pants and I'm not happy with them. They wick, they leak, and their stiff, hard, and crunchy.

So the nylon pants are sitting in the dresser drawer, and I'm back to using old-fashioned plastic pull-ons. When it comes to pull-on pants it really is hard to beat tried and true rubber pants. That's how I feel anyway. Anyone here have any success with nylon ones? Are there any other options? Nothing in the way of Velcro or wrap please. I use pins and I want something pull-on.

Seriously, the best pull-on cover has to be a knitted woll soaker. It doesn't soak in a pee smell, it doesn't wick. Actually, it'll repel lots of moisture if well-lanolized, and they are sooooo easy to make. My favourite pattern is the Curly Purly soaker pattern. :)

HippyFreek - Do you sell them? I have always wondered about soakers, I just don't understand them. So, you use them over your regular cloth dipes or fitted, right? But you don't need to wash the wool every time? I just don't get it, how do they stay clean if they are touching a peed diaper all day or night?

My exact question jgirl.... That's why I have always steared way clear of them. At least with rubber pants you can give them a quick wiping between changes.

Wool is AMAZING. Because it's animal fiber, it's nature's best design. It will absorb pee without allowing bacteria (that causes smellyness) to grow. It only has to be washed every 2-3 weeks, depending on how much use/soaking through there is. If it feels wet, let it air dry. Well-lanolised soakers will repel moisture as good as PUL for several weeks. You buy lanolinsed washes in diaper stores or yarn shops.

I don't sell them, but I could show you pictures of the ones I've made, and if you buy the wool and pay for shipping, I'd make one! :)

I used a fleece pull-on cover with my daughter. I'd tried the wool, and it was amazing - but she's allergic to wool. (sigh)

Fleece does wick moisture away from the body, so if I let her go too long she'd be sitting in a puddle. But it was the ONLY cover I tried that didn't leave her with a red angry rash. I would use the fleece at night with a pad under the sheets, and JUST the diaper during the day... unless we were going out somewhere. For then I had just a couple all-in=one diapers which are pretty similar to a pin-on with plastic-pants over the top. I never did find anything that kept her as dry as those either.
    love,
    mom

HippyFreek---you are so-so kind! You really are! I'm going to give the wool covers some extra thought and I will for surely get back to you. Thank you for being there for me! As far as all-in-one cloth diapers go I have a friend using all-in-ones right now and she too loves them. She wanted to move away from having to use pins and rubber pants (she hates having to deal with those two things when cloth-diapering).
