    I haven't really decided yet.

I'd probably vote for either Ralph Nader or Michael Badnarik (Libertarian Party).

I am also thinking of not voting at all. After all the reading and research I've done, I don't even have any faith in the electoral process in this country anymore. You can be almost certain that the elections will be rigged again, as they were in '00. There is nothing stopping these people.

Hmm... I want instant runoff voting.

    1) Nader
    2) Cobb
    3) Jerry Garcia (hey I can write in who I want)
    4) I guess Kerry
    5) Well... let us just hope it isn't that bad.

Rat, even if they cheat (which we know they will if necessary, then blame us 3rd party voters) why not vote anyway? I look at it as my duty to vote, if they fuck up the process by cheating then it is on them, but at least I tried to do the right thing.

That's not entirely true. I live in a blue state anyway.

Besides, I could care less if Bush or Kerry wins. One of them is going to win, and I dislike them both the same.

MIcheal Badnarik. Rat how could you say you'd vote for Nader or Badnarik? They're on opposite ends of the spectrum man.

I actually know Badnarick personally. I worked with him, just not but a year ago. Not that bad of a guy, but not who I would want for a president. I would even prefer Kerry over him...

They are different in many ways, but at the opposite end of the spectrum? Not really.

They both share many of the same ideas.

I don't think the Democrats would ever do something like that, it's dispicable. So how can you say they are the same?? Really, how?

    My vote goes to KERRY!

And a vote for Kerry is a vote for Bush, until that is you can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt in my mind that they will not do the EXACT same thing.

I wish people would grow up and stop using stupid excuses.

Exactly! :) The whole point of being able to vote is to vote for what you believe in and what you want done, not what everyone else thinks should be done. I don't understand why no one can grasp that concept.

    I'm voting for Kerry.
Here are some issues and the sides each candidate takes. The issues that are most important to me are most closely guarded by Kerry, although not to the extent I'd wish. Voting third party isn't an option for me in this election.
    Abortion
    Bush:
Would only support it in cases of rape or incest or when a woman’s life is endangered.
Kerry: Is a staunch pro-choice advocate and would nominate only Supreme Court justices who support abortion rights.
    Education
    Bush:
Overhauled elementary and secondary education that toughened standards for student achievement.
Kerry: Would establish community service plan for high school students that would qualify them for four-year public college tuition if they perform two years of national service. Opposes private-school vouchers.
    Energy and environment
    Bush:
Environmentalists oppose Bush. Favors oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Opposes raising mileage requirements on carmakers. Favors more logging of federal forests to prevent fires. Favors a gradual cap on mercury emissions. Favors storing the nation’s nuclear waste in Nevada.
Kerry: Environmentalists back Kerry. Favors a strong federal role to provide environmental protections. Opposes drilling in sensitive areas. Favors raising car mileage requirements. Opposes raising the gasoline tax. Opposes logging in to prevent fires, would focus on clearing brush around communities. Favors strict cap on mercury emissions. Favors keeping nuclear waste at reactors.
    Foreign policy
Bush: After straining relations over war in
Iraq, he has shifted his foreign policy focus to the spread of democracy by pushing a Greater Middle East Initiative that would aim to resolve the region’s problems through democratic reform. Pursuing a policy that seeks to unravel the black market in nuclear components and block programs in North Korea and Iran.
Kerry: He envisions “a new era of alliances” to replace what he sees as the White House’s go-it-alone approach to foreign policy. He has pledged to restore diplomacy as a tool of U.S. foreign policy and to treat the United Nations as a “full partner”.
    Guns
    Bush:
Favors granting gun makers immunity from civil lawsuits. Has said he supports extending ban on assault-type weapons, but has backed delays. Prosecution of people who lie on background checks has continued to lag.
Kerry: Supports extending ban on assault-type weapons and requiring background checks at gun shows. Opposes granting immunity to gun makers.

    Health care
    Bush:
Number of Americans without health insurance has risen in. Passage of prescription drug benefit for older Americans that will subsidize costs for low-income patients. Cost of drug benefit and other Medicare changes now estimated at $534 billion over 10 years, up from $395 billion when changes were debated.
Kerry: Expand existing insurance system for federal employees to private citizens through credits and subsidies. Unemployed would get 75 percent tax credit to help pay for insurance. Tax credits for small businesses and their employees for health insurance. People aged 55-64 could buy into federal employees’ health plan at affordable price. Government would help companies and insurers pay an employee’s catastrophic medical costs if the firms would agree to hold down premiums. Federal support to expand access to state-administered health insurance for children. Also, require mandatory financing for veterans health care.
    Homeland Security
    Bush: T
outs creation of Department of Homeland Security as primary achievement. Bush completely supports the U.S. Patriot Act and favors expansion of the law. Supports the 9/11 Commission recommendation to create a so-called “Intelligence Czar.” Bush also points to billions of dollars spent to bolster security in aviation, transportation & infrastructure. Revamped the FBI with a focus on domestic terrorism. Pushed for BioWatch program, a multi-billion dollar plan to protect against biological terrorism threats. Bush got the FDA to kick start a moribund food inspection program.
    Kerry:
Has made fulfilling the 9/11 Commission’s anti-terrorism blueprint a top priority. Has a 5-point plan for improving homeland security: improving country’s ability to track down terrorists; plug security holes at airports, seaports and borders; resolve vulnerabilities within infrastructure, such as energy, chemical and mass transportation; more support for first responders; and revamp the Patriot Act to guard against infringements on civil liberties. Proposes to reorganize the way the country responds to bioterror threats by putting a one person in charge of anti-bioterrorism efforts.
    Iraq
Bush: He oversaw a swift military victory followed by a violent aftermath in which the death count for U.S. soldiers is over 1,000. Won congressional approval of $87 billion for continued military operations and aid in Iraq and Afghanistan and pushed plan for interim government to run coutry.
Kerry: Supported decision to go to war but now says he did so based on faulty U.S. intelligence. Opposed $87 billion package for Iraq and Afghanistan.

    Taxes
Bush: Has called on Congress to make his tax cuts permanent. Congressional analysts say that making the tax cuts permanent would cost about $1.3 trillion over the next 10 years.
Kerry: Has called for repeal of the Bush tax cuts for Americans earning more than $200,000 a year. He would retain the tax cuts for the middle class. He says he can halve the record half-trillion dollar budget by the end of one four-year term, even while spending $72 billion a year to extend health care to 27 million of the 40-plus million uninsured.

    Trade
    Bush:
Is an avowed free trader, has embarked on a series of trade agreements with countries in Asia, Latin America and Africa. But his administration has also faced charges of protectionism over steel tariffs that the World Trade Organization ruled illegal, and its reluctance to trim import barriers that protect U.S. sugar, dairy and beef industries.
Kerry: Has promised a 120-day review of all existing
U.S. trade agreements upon taking office, and favors using the World Trade Organization to challenge China’s currency practices. He also has pressed for stronger labor and environmental language in bilateral free trade agreements with countries around the world.

Anyone who says there are no differences between the candidates needs to research a little into the SPECIFIC platforms and policies.
