Yo I want to dread my hair right, and was wonderin how i go about making them stick up more and be random, i dont want long straight downward dreads. Do they need to be real thick or something? thanks
the thicker they are the more likely the will stick up, but eventually gravity does pull them down quite a bit... do you have pictures that show what you are wanting your dreads to be like?
http://www.knottyboy.com/newgallery/full.php?id=3007 like tht a bit http://www.knottyboy.com/newgallery/full.php?id=2158 and this, its the layers i think?
yeah if their thick and backcombed real tight, they will stick up. alot. but they will settle down. and in those pictures, those people are using wax in their hair which is probably a large factor in how stiff they look. wax is bad. i used it and it was horrible. stay away from wax. please
first pic is dark and the 2nd pic ain't even dreads... just hair stuck together with wax and some rubberbands Believe me... dreads have a wild side no matter what you do... the longer they get the more they calm down because they get heavy and weighed down. Thick dreads, thin dreads - they all have crazy stages. Don't envy anyone's dreads because they'll become what they're meant to become if you stick with them.
Here look.... http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j52/elantrauma/?action=view¤t=ac98b766239a.jpg Thats after an hour of root rubbing. But as Caelynn said, Thick dreads tend to stick out, example: http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j52/elantrauma/?action=view¤t=a9ee63029d08.jpg But remember, thicker dreads are harder to clean (Copyright SoaringEagle 2007) AND, eventually gravity WILL take over and they will hang. If you want to have mold and dirt stuck in your head, use wax to keep em up. In other words......dont use wax. Wax is for candles. Candles do not belong in hair and vise versa. Sometimes 100% Aloe can make em stick out. If you wanna go for a spike look, dont dread at all and just load up sections on hair with industrial strenth hair gel.
