favorite strains?

Hey I'll be buying a half ounce in a few days and was trying to decide what strain to get, the guy didn't do white widow, which is the one I felt like trying. So please put your favorite strains and a short description here or something.

i really wouldnt worry about it. get whatever he has that looks and smells the best to you. unless you grow your own, or are close personal friends with the grower, or unless you can get it at a cannabis club or a dutch coffeeshop, you really can't trust that what you're getting is what they're calling it. often dealers will call their pot something just to jack up the price for unwitting rubes.

its especially fishy that you could ask for a particular strain and get it. i doubt he really has access to more than 3 or 4 at most. the fact that he cant get white widow doesnt mean that he is right about the strains, either. he most likely is buying from someone else, in which case all HE has to go on is what he's told they are - and he could be the unwitting rube as well.

seeing as there are hundreds of strains and varieties of cannabis, how about telling us what is allegedly available? then maybe some folks could give some feedback on what their favorite is, assuming what you're getting is what you think it is.

now a perfect example of why you can't trust names is this: the best weed i've ever smoked, or at least my favorite, i bought in the summertime maybe 2, 3 years ago. it came with a name, but like i said i know you can't trust the names and that if you buy pot rather than grow it, its not even worth bothering with usually. the name i was given for this pot was "pearl." it had a great taste, a VERY energetic, stimulating high, nice smell, quite potent but not overwhelmingly so. the kind of pot i smoke and then want to go outside and play. but i looked into different strains and lo and behold there is no "pearl" strain available through major seed vendors. or at least not one i can find. theres early pearl. silver pearl. jamaican pearl. but i've never come across one labeled simply as "pearl" and nothing else attached. which is a shame, because now i have nothing to go on, can't trust that any of the three are what i had, etc. but the effect from that pot was about the best i've ever come across. really stimulating, but gets you blazed out of your gourd.

on the other hand i'm a sucker for a terrific flavor, and once in a while you DO get something that is what they say it is. i'm not saying if a dealer tells you what strain it is that its ALWAYS bullshit, just that you can't usually trust it. however i got some bubblegum once and, well, i'm fucking convinced it was bubblegum because smoking it tasted EXACTLY like bubblegum. it was fucking delicious, and its the only time i've trusted a strain name because the flavor was so dead-on. if this is available and you like good flavor and sweet tasting pot, go for this. however remember that most strains have multiple phenotypes and the desired one doesnt always come out.....so dont be too disappointed if bubblegum doesnt taste like bubblegum, etc.

really you should honestly just look at whats available and make your choice based strictly on what looks and smells the best to you. ask your dude if he's smoked them all, and ask for comparisons of what the high is like for him, what the effect is, and the flavors. if he's really cool he might let you have a hit or two as a sample from one or two of the varieties, as a taste test.

basically you shouldn't make your decision based on a strain name, because its unreliable information, even from a trusted friend/dealer. make your pick based on apparent quality and what you're looking for in a bag of pot....personally i'd pick flavor or good effect over sheer potency any time.

 

I trust my dealer with strains... Bubblegum should most definately SMELL and TASTE like bubblegum. I usually like to get "Purple" or "Pineapple" cuz thoughs two give me my favorite high. I do love the bubblegum too.
Whenever my dealer sells dank, he is serious about what strain it is, it's no bullshit.
Commercial weed on the other hand he don't even give a fuck.

 

there are tons and tons of purple strains.


but not one simply called "purple" and nothing else.

but i've never found a breeder that makes something simply called "purple"

this is a great example of a dealer, who may be very sincere and serious about strains, not really understanding what he has. either he's calling it something because he hasn't got the actual name, the strain is existant but is an unnamed strain, he was told its "purple" so "purple" it is, etc., or its one of the dozens of other purple strains simply being sold under a different name. theres a particular purple strain going around right now, especially out west, that apparently is known by a number of different names but its all the same stuff, and its not for sure who originally bred it. "da purps" "grandaddy purple" "big daddy purp" (bdp is what a guy i know from cali knows it as)

but still, "purple" is not a strain name offered by ANY breeders i know of, and as such the name can't be trusted. even if he's serious and in earnest and good faith, he can be wrong. if he didnt grow it, he doesnt know it.

and his bud was just called "purple" so i didnt say "grape ape" or other purple strains without the word purple in it.....

haha, idk. But the main things my dealer usually always has Purple, Bubblegum, Pineapple and, White widow and I know the grower. Me and my dealer are good friends of the grower, so I know the strains are correct. The grower lives in the next town over so it's not easy to get to the dude, but my dealer always gets the stuff from our friend and brings it back and sells it around here. He gives me all the deals the grower would give me, but I just can't get to the grower. I'm usually don't talk about my grower a lot cuz I don't want any chance of him getting busted or it'd be hell for him, and he is in no way a bad person deseving to be arrested.

 

the only time i had strains with names were blueberry yum yum, m3, and "mango".

and i've never heard or "purple" either...

 

Im more of a fez or eric fan, I'd rather smoke them then Ashton Kusher...lol

idk, maybe the "Purple" strain he has wa ssome unidentifiable seeds he got or something. idk. But that's what the grower calls it. He also had a supply of blueberry but that is no more.. Was one of my favs..

 

wow, I never thought anyone would name a strain blueberry yum yum, this is the 2nd time I have heard it.
