Now, there are many many many religious hindus in United states of America. Actually I think thats because they get very religious when they get to America. I have seen more religious Hindus in a population of 2 million than I can here admist the population of a billion people. http://www.hinduamericanfoundation.org/hintro_rising_numbers.htm And according to the link above, Hindus are amongst the most successful immigrant groups in USA. So what do you think? the more religious you are, the more successful you get? eh? Yes? No? Jedi, you better shut up?
Well I guess you kind of have to define More religous. Is it fundelementalist or Liberal interpretations. But I dont think in modern day America we are that accepting of people of different religons.
not in my experience, except maybe in the first euphoric flush of enamourment with a new belief. nontangable friends are good to have though, and sometimes they do oppen doors and windows of oppertunity. or open some while closing others. in their own inscrutable way. =^^= .../\...
The only thing worth having in this life is peace of mind and happiness. Any other kind of success isn't one to my mind. I think those who suffer are maybe the ones with grace on their side, suffering gives a much greater chance of seeing through the tricks of the mind. Those who succeed in business etc, will live a life of equal ups and downs. They may think themselves a success but to my logic that can be a continuous torment.
It isn't being 'religious' that helps - it is more about having the right motivation in life, the right intentions. Also, it depends on what you define as success. Many religious people are not very successful at becoming wealthy for instance. Nor are many of them very good at relating to people with different beliefs. Part of the spiritual path (I'm not comfortable with the term 'religion') is perhaps finding one's own niche in life. If you can do that, and work at something which gives you happiness and fulfillment, then well and good. Often though, it seems that the wordly and the 'spiritual' are viewed by people as separate in some way, and religion is used as a kind of comforter because they're not happy in life. From an extreme popint of view, it seems that 'success' means fulfillment of goals, desires etc, and some religions say we should give all that up.
The only real success is when you realize you don't need religion at all. God. No middleman needed. x
As usual, this all breaks down into a game of definitions. In this case the definition of what we mean here by 'religious', and what we mean by 'success'.
