Last time this happened it was when I was at the beach last Oct.- it was because of water being stuck in my ear and took about a month for it to get better..... Now I'll be at the beach again at the end of the week and my ear is totally closed up again.

Anyone know how I can fix it? When I went to the doctor last time she just told me to take benadryl, which really doesn't help.

    This is so annoying.

I had that before. What you should do is stand on one leg, move your head so your watery ear points down and jump up and down. It should come out.
One of the best feelings in the world when it comes out.

I find doctors are useless when it comes to ears.
I find water in ears goes away by itself in a day or so, don't really have any suggestions.
I've had ear problems for years, and have just kind of had to learn to live with it.

Haha..... Bird... I don't know if you were being serious or not but that actually seemed to help. It kinda popped and opened up.

And as for ear problems going away in a day or so, I wish that was the case for me when this happens but I totally agree that doctors are useless with ears.

That comes naturally with that kind of treatment.

I went swimming on Saturday and I was having ear problems afterwards. I did what Bird suggested but it didn't really help. Bill told me to sleep on it so it would drain during the night. That didn't really help either. I took an allegra and that helped. It helped the last time I felt like I had fluid in my ears.

I hope your ear is better today.

My mom had this problem really recently. Her ear was closed up for weeks. I suggested to her to sleep on her side with her problem ear facing down into her pillow and after one night it was cleared up!

Haha.... yeah, maybe a sauna would help. :D

Peanuts... I was at a waterpark yesterday and I really think the water hitting my ear like that aggrivated it....

Oh I did sleep on the side last night with it down but when I woke up it was just worse.

It's still open now but hurts a little bit. Just bought some ear candles... they seemed to really help me before.

if it is water in your ear, then have someone use a drinking straw to put a drop or two of rubbing alcohol in your ear, let it sit for a few seconds, then quickly flip your head so that it can come out. wipe any that comes out off with a tissue. this will absorb and dry up the water in your ear and disinfect it so that you wont get swimmers ear. if the canal is swollen and painful, you have swimmers ear. you need better medication, not just benadryl.

Did you get any gunk out?

My nephews had that done and I was amazed at all the stuff that came out of their ears.
