Ello all..arty: I had my nose peirced about 2-3 months ago, it all went fine no infections nothing..but i really wanted a ring in so i went and brought a sleeper ring and wacked it in...it bled a little (i think due to it being put in on a diff angle) but now its a little red around the ring and i got some puss out of it last night (not much but i never had it b4)..I can spin it and touch it without it hurting but im really worried, im a bit of a panic merchant when it comes to infections/germs etc... I heard someone say it might be a keiloid or something but i dont know..bathing it 5 times a day in warm salt water i heard is the trick! but i really want some advice! There is NO WAY i wana take it out i love it...it doesnt look bad ppl dont notice unless up close... i want to know how can i get it better and will it cause a major infection in my blood and will i get poisioning im just scared...thats the panic side coming out.... THANKS GUYS i will appriciate anything you can tell me....XXX Lozzie
don't worry about it. Sometimes, when I switch my nose jewelry, I don't get it right through the hole straight enough and it's red for a week sometimes. It always goes away. Just let it heal up before you change it again and be more careful pulling jewelry out and puting it in.
Thanks girls! You have made me feel heaps better! i was worried it wasnt normal and i was going to get a bad infection from it! cheers!!!! have an awsum weekend ladies xxx
Like someone already said, don't clean it that much... the more you clean it, the more you touch it, the more chances for bacteria to get in there. Twice a day is good enough. And I'll also add that one thing that can irritate piercings for no apparent reason is being sick. I know a lot of people who, when they get sick, their piercings get VERY angry for no apparent reason. Even being on your period can do it - I started mine on Saturday, was really sick, puking and everything, and between Saturday/Sunday, my right ear (my ears are stretched to almost 3/4") got extremely irritated. By Tuesday, it was all cleared up and happy again. So don't freak out too much if a piercing gets a little red from time to time... lots of things can cause it, and infections aren't nearly as common as most people think.
Ill third the comment that dont clean it that much. Twice a day with warm salt water. Also a non-alcoholic antibacterial cleaner could help. Or IMO a BZK solution (although many are against this one personally). The salt water soaks/compresses are the best thing. Just make sure its non iodineised salt. Also, its a sleeper. Its small. The smaller it is, the easier it is to irritate.
