Well I posted a while ago about my new puppy, Gypsy. Anyway, we've been working on house training for a (long) while. She was doing really well for a few weeks. But now, I take her outside and she'll pee, but then she just plays around. She won't poop outside!!! We can stay outside for hours, and she'll refuse to go, and then as soon as we get in the house, she will run & hide, and poop on the floor. I'm getting sooo frustrated, :banghead: and I'm not really sure where to go from here. Like I said, for a few weeks, there was no problem. We'd take her outside, she'd do her business, play for a little while, and then go and scratch at the front door when she was ready to go in. Now she'll go ouside, pee, and then she wants back in the house. I don't know what to do. I don't want to keep her in her crate inside, but I can't keep her outside all day long either. Help please!!! I'm so tired of cleaning up shit!!!!:puke:

    How old is she?

Puppies will go through stages. We had ours (mind you, a big dog, which seem to train easier) started on training when we got him at 5 weeks old. By 4 months, he knew basic commands, how to "shake a paw" and "other paw", etc. But then he started going potty in the house again... nooo idea why, he knew how to ask to go outside and everything, he just started doing it again.
We had to watch him CONSTANTLY. He stayed in the living rom/dining room (which we can see from the living room) and if he took off down the hall or anything, he knew he wasn't allowed. The second he'd try, we would be right there after him. Eventually, he got used to it and realized that if he can't hide, and he didn't want us to catch him going in the house, he would have no choice but to go outside.

I think some dogs do it once they get a little older, even after they're trained, because they're embarrassed to go outside. They don't want anyone to see them poop - peeing is okay, but pooping is another story. Most people don't want someone watching them poop (but the dog always seems to want to watch, eh? hahaha..) and dogs, in a human household, catch on to that and decide that they don't want anyone watching them poop, either.

Is there a "safe spot" outside? Like, between some bushes or something, where she can poop? When you take her out there, try taking her right to a place where she can hide, get her to pee there, and then say "good girl" and all that, and leave her... she'll probably sniff around, find a way to hide, and poop there.

She's just a little over 4 months. I give her as much space as I can when we're outside, but we don't have a fenced in yard, and if I let her off the leash, she takes off. (DH learned that the hard way!) Have you (or anyone else) ever tried the spray that is supposed to keep dogs off of furniture? She only has a few places in the house that she poops, so I wondered if spraying something with an unpleasant (to her) smell would help keep her out of those spots?

when you take her outside, keep her on the lead till she's pee'd and poo'd then have a little game. she will soon realise that she only gets the fun stuff after she has pottied.
if she wont poo after say 15 minutes, take her back in on the lead and pop her back in her crate (lead off). 30 mins later do the same again. no play outside till she has poo'd.
i hate to ask but have you ever shwon your displeasure at her when she has poo'd in the house? if you have she may have learned that pooing in front of mum isnt good, so i'll poo somewhere else where she cant see me!
no biggie, just ignore her whilst you clean up any mess, and try the above.
as for keeping her away from the spots she has been in, get a good enzymatic cleaner which will 'digest' the smell rather than cover it up, most normal cleaners contain ammonia, and will smell like pee to a dog so they think it must be ok to go there.
    hope that helps hun xx
