Did anyone by any chance watch the queens tour on TV 3 tonight when Jaquie Brown was in Hamilton??? those gurls that she was standing with on the side of the road were sooo pathetic imo. but my mates Ute looked really good on screen haha.

meh, I know sweet fuck all about cars. I am most likely to say "a green one" when you ask me what type a car was...

but I do like old school vdubs and morries and awesome old chevys and stuff from the 50s - it's all aesthetics though, i wouldn't have the faintest clue what's 'good' in terms of engines :)

Ah, blissfull ignorance. At least I like walking :)

I'm all for cars. It gets me to and from work and provides me with unlimited freedom. I love my Focus hatchback "Freddie". He rocks.

I'm morally opposed to public vehicle ownership. It hinders the environment by standing in the way of creating an efficient mass-scale public transport system.

Truth is that as much fun and as much of a status symbol as a car might be, it's not necessary while the option of public transport, cycling, and walking remain.

That said, I'm about to own a vehicle, my flatting plans fell through (I should have learnt not to trust my friends by now). I hand been arranging to live in a flat of veggies with our dear friend Sophie up there. (Hiya Soph!:p ) I thought about going back to that if it was possible, but then a thought struck me.

I rushed to the Dunedin City Council website and checked the by-laws on Traffic and Parking. Bingo!

I'm living on a mattress in the back of a van next year. It'll be hard, it'll be cold, it'll mean I have to use a laundromat, and shower at the Uni gym or mates' places. All I need to do is save the moolah and I'm there.

I'll set it all up over the summer. I figure why the hell not try a year as a homeless person? In two or three year's time I'll have so many life-commitments that I can't just live without constraint. I may never have a chance like this again.

Basically, I plan to be responsible with my vehicle. I refuse to move it more often than I have to, or to use it as transport. It's my "House". If I could live in a tent and survive I'd do that instead.

Of course this plan might all turn to custard, but who cares!

    It's a once in a life-timer!

I'm getting my learner's as soon as I possibly can, and I'll steal my dad's car whenever he's not looking, lol. My parents won't buy me a car because they don't want me to drive anywhere, so I'm going to have to save up and buy one myself, which sucks.

sorry i am personally a bit of an A-B type guy.

pretty boring really, infact some people might even call me boring guy Mach-2

although to be honest the better a car performs the better it feels to drive, i still wouldn't mind a POS car.

my favorite car infact would be one of those toyota prius's the hybrid electric vehicles, they use like 1/3rd the petrol of a normal car. and are pretty sexy (if you are a granny)

i actually don't care for cars enough to bike to university on good days, rather than taking the bus. (25Km round trip biking BTW)

I'm exactly like Sophie. Go the Blue Cars. *grin*

Walrus boy, Are you sure you want to do that? its not a particularly conducive environment for studying and doing well. Also, no proper cooking facilities and you need to make sure you eat well.

I'M FLATTING NOW. Flatting with 9 other people... its great fun. wooohooo....:)

And we have other roommates in the shape of cockroaches living with us. woohoo.

Hi matt - man that's intense. Good luck to you - i could never do that, but if you can good on you and i hope it works out :)

As for our flat - well we did have one lined up, we were all set to sign the lease and th landlord was coming over at 7 on thurs night to do so. Then, at about 3, we rang up to see if could change to 6:30 and the bastard goes "oh, whopps, I just signed it with someone else". What a wanker, that is just SO rude...And he wasn't even going to ring and tell us.

But, things might work out yet. I have one girl as a definite, and I got a call yeterday from 3 guys looking for 2 vegie girls for their flat - and last time I checked we were 2 vegie girls, so crossed fingers.

So far we haven't met any propscetive flatmates that are cockraches yet, but you never know. We are still to meet with a guy from cumbie...

It ammuses me how people act very differently towards other people in their cars (me included). Being in a car is like being in a bubble where social behavioural norms are brushed aside. I think its because of the fact that no matter what you do to the people in the car next to you or the pedestrians you and your car are gonna be gone in 60 seconds (or less).

Like when you drive past some people and wind down the window and yell something out like "woooohooo". I have never done that when I have just walked or bike past some people walking on the footpath.

Or when you are side by side at the lights with some good looking birds and just give them a cheeky look or wave then start talking dirty or flirting, then the lights go green and you never see them again.

Its quite weird when you think about it, but quite fun too.

A girl I went out with a while back ended the relationship because I wasn't into cars enough - How funny is that. She was super hot.W

Does anyone watch MONSTER GARAGE? man i love this t.v programme! especially the recent episode where jesse and these old school guys re-shaped this 54 chev.
    [IMG] [IMG][IMG]

    Make: Chevrolet
    Model: Sedan
    Year: 1954
    Height:
    46"
    Width:
    69"
    Length:185"

    Weight: 3000 ponds

Special Welds: Special welds were performed on every part of the car including the hammer-welded roof, quarter panels, doors, firewall, door tops, trunk lid, nose and hood, sunken antennas and gas filler.
Additonal Aquired or machined parts: Includes the rear axle, front suspension, reinforced frame, new cross members, engine, custom frenched head and tail lights.
Body Modifications: The team chopped the top, sectioned the body, added air-bag suspension, cut and sanded the windows, frenched the head and tail lights, and shaved the door handles, nose and deck. they bull-dozed the hood and leaded its peak, and shaved the dash to mount Norm's skull shifter.

This is the only topic I get angry on cause i honestly cannot see how a sardine tin people call a car seems to get everyone so worked up. But for purposes of the argument, Fords are shit and rotors can honestly promote osama's suicide regime as all they are, are loud pieces of crap. If you going to get any car get a 2004-05 series 1 ferreri and ride it on the German Auto-barm at 300 kph thats what driving is.

Meh. And then you'd have to live in it, the car alone would be half the price of a normal 3 bdrm house. Or have to end up living in a box on the side of the road b/c you were driving @ 300kph and lost control, crashing the car whos parts would cost thousands of dollars to replace or you end up dead. Speed kills.....Or the faster you go, the bigger the mess rrring any bells??? they are very nice cars tho, but come on. cars that are realistic to own are much better imo.

or get a much cooler 1969 dodge daytona, and hit the autobahn at 350kph, stock standard. or take a AUSTRALIAN FORD, and cross the outback in 5hrs at 320kph, this isnt just a random idea either.. phase3 gtho falcon tuned up to over phase4 standards

and yeah that 54 chev on monster garage was sweet.. but the antennas were frenched not sunken, and the skull was an ornament not a gearknob
