Before I even clicked on this thread I knew that Hendrix and Page were either going to be neck n' neck or close, it always comes down to those two under the topic of 'best guitarist'. I am a true Page fan and voted accordingly, for me there is no comparison, hands down, Jimmy P.

I love Jimi Hendrix, so he got my vote, but I must say, Jimmy Page IS a total genius. I also have a sentimental attatchment to Joe Perry.

Johnny Thunders- because he played rock-n-roll with no wankery. If he played it, it was rock-n-roll and I like it!

Michael Angelo Batio is alright, but let's face it, he's a trick pony, as opposed to a musician such as Vai, Satch etc. Francesco Fareri is without a doubt the worst guitarist that I have ever heard. He is very sloppy and lacks basic skills such as vibrato and intonation.

As far as 'rock' guiatrist go, I would have to say Jimi Hendrix. However, the best all round guitarist I have ever heard is Buckethead. Then come John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Jason Becker. Some idiot will probably accuse them of being 'souless', due to the fact that they can do more than play slow and bend notes out of pitch with distortion. Which, let'sfaceit,is what most rock 'n' roll guitarists do.
