I remember a few things from the old days... I remember when the Beatles toured and came here to Australia. It was in the middle of winter, and even though I was only about 12 my mum let me have the day off school and go to stand/scream etc outside their hotel. They were standing on the balcony looking down at all of us. I waved my hands over my head, and the next thing I know George Harrison was copying my wave back to me. Everyone was just screaming and crying, and an old lady walked past and hit me with her umbrella, telling me to shut up! I remember going to see "Hair" the musical. I still remember walking into the theatre...with all the smoke and the smells of incense and the music playing. I remember at the very start, all these hippies came down the aisle from the back of the room, and were dancing and skipping and singing and sitting on people's laps etc. It was sooo cool. And when the full frontal nude scene came on I didn't know where to look (well, I was young and innocent at the time!) And anyone who wants their groove back should read anything by Jack Kerouac (I know, its out of print now)...here's a bit from The Dharma Bums (1958): "…see the whole thing is a world full of rucksack wanderers, Dharma Bums refusing to subscribe to the general demand that they consume production and therefore have to work for the privilege of consuming, all that crap they didn't really want anyway such as refrigerators, TV sets, cars,…and general junk you finally always see a week later in the garbage anyway, all of them imprisoned in a system of work, produce, consume, work, produce, consume, I see a vision of a great rucksack revolution thousands or even millions of young Americans wandering around with rucksacks, going up to mountains to pray, making children laugh and old men glad, making young girls happy and old girls happier, all of 'em Zen Lunatics who go about writing poems that happen to appear in their heads for no reason and also by being kind and also by strange unexpected acts keep giving visions of eternal freedom to everybody and to all living creatures. " Peace, Love & Bliss, Goddess Om
God, I remember so much. Long lines at the Filmore east, they extended as far as my door. I remember seeing the billboards, Santana,Chicago, Stepenwolf, The doors, Ten years after, and wondering who are all these people? This was in 1969-74 right after woodstock, and having arrived at the East Village I was still settling and I had found an apt right on Second ave, for 54$ a month!! This was after I had been crashing in other people's apartments and had found one on Ave B. where you could get one for 40$ a month, but no body cared to live down there. Now yuppies have to split a studio,(on ave.B) since they are so hard to find and rents have skyrocketed. The fillmore east closed and so did the Electric (close to each other) Circus right in the mid seventies, and everything changed, it was a period of transition. Later the place for music or introducing groups was OMFUG (third ave, Bowery) where punk music had its birth, although some say it originated in London. Then the signs would say: "the police"the "NY dolls" "the ramones "etc. The times they were-a- changing indeed.
Back when a lid was 10 bucks and, that time when we all went to see Crosby, Ogden Nash and Mr. Spellman at the Rainbow but we couldnt stand up cause the purple koolaid was full of prune juice and MSG. My girlfiend had earings made from ashtrays from the original Whiskey and I had a pair if bell bottom elf boots that I used to run like hell from the man...never with empty hands though... Im sorry that was that other time when...

Peace, man but now they have global positisioning system and other things and its harder to avoid getting busted. my car a 1957 chevy BEL AIR has the old 283 v8 4 barrel in her still 7 runs to. lets say as far as police chases go if you have outrun them ram them! with the new cars they use which are lightweight so they get more kick and my cars extreme weight compairison & durablility i can do even a 40 mile an hour collision & be able to drive off! because the motor compartment is bigger the the motor just in case you decide to put a 350 or so in her! but i wont! i dont want to harm Old Betsy. hey WE how many autos do you have? later the tired flower child
I remember having tickets to the Doors concert in Cleveland when Jim decided to let it all hang out in Fla. so Cleveland banned him from the city! I don't think we ever did get our money back for those tickets.
