A week last Sunday, Earthwhirler's stepdad suffered a stroke, followed by a massive heart attack. The doctors took 20 minutes to get his heart beating again. They believed he'd suffered brain damage resulting in paralysis of his whole left-hand side - at the very least. They were also certain they'd need to amputate his right arm as a result of tissue damage suffered during loss of circulation. On Monday, we headed down to Essex to be there for Earthwhirer's mum. During the next five days, he never regained conciousness. Just before this happened, Earthwhirler's mum and stepdad had a conversation about their relationship, where her mum told her stepdad that she no longer loved him. They were going to get together after he left hospital to have a civilised meal and talk about the future of their relationship. After his heart attack, Earthwhirler's mum realised that she did still love him. She just wanted him to wake up for five minutes so she could tell him. This never happened. He died on Friday. He was in his mid-fifties.
thats incredibly sad and so scary. My heart reaches out to both you and your mum Earthwhirler. i dont quite know what to say here other than i hope your mum is ok and im sure that while he was still alive he would have felt the love around him, love breeches all barriers in my eyes. *big hugs*
Really sorry to hear that, difficult time. I lost my mum in February, 58 years old. Best wishes, hugs and all that.
Very sad stuff. There's a lesson in there too. When my mum died at 50 I sat at her bedside and held her hand. After years of delinquency it was one of the best things I could have done, she died knowing that I loved her. I wish I could have done the same for my gran who died a few years earlier. If you love someone and they don't know it. Make sure you tell them. One day it might be too late.
Yeah, I kinda hoped the message would be self-evident. Fortunately, me 'n' Soulshimmer have been telling each other how much we love each other multiple times each day for the last six and a half years, so no danger there for us! It's not really affected me too much, coz I didn't know the guy that well. I instinctively relate to other people's feelings though, so it was quite harrowing being around Earthwhirler's mum at times. Even now though, I keep surprising myself by getting quite choked when talking about it.
