The I am sick excuse is usually untrue and lame and easy to detect, so what are some good believable excuses you have used?

I am thinking of this... call in an hour before work and try: I went to see a friend, who is three hours away, on my day off and decided to drive back at 6:45 am the next day to get to work at 10 am and my car broke down. Just called a tow truck so I may not be able to come in.
though sometimes you can usually get away with one no show without to much problem. I haven't called in sick or taken a day off on short notice yet. though I have been 10-15 minutes late, a few times. just so much going on now..It is a must

Then The Next Day Call In Saying It Got Worse i.e. You Hurt Your Ankle At Work But Paid Little Attention To It Then Overnight It GOt Worse And Swelled Up Not Allowing You To Walk On It Much I Guess It Depends On Your Job
One time i just didn't go into work, just because i couldn't be arsed. When i went in the next day and they asked me why i didn't go in, i just said "ok i'll tell you the truth, i went out last night and i got soooooooo drunk, i couldn't even get out of bed in the morning, sorry" And they just said, "don't let it happen again"
