wen you die, does your soul remain in the corpse or does it leave your body? if it were to stay in your body, what would happen if you got cremated?

I'm not sure. If I die, I'll be sure to let you know.

Science has proven that you loose half an ounce of body mass when you die. Can we assume that is the soul? who the fuck knows.

Maybe a soul is just promises and commitments and when you die your promises and commitments live on regardless of cremation, burial or mummification. Cheers and happy weekend!

What makes you think a soul is something that can burn?

I believe if you are blow up with explosives, hit by a bus, cremated, whatever, your soul stays in tact. A soul is obviously not something that must obey every law of the physical world.

Thus I find it hard to believe a soul would actually have weight to it, much less a whole half-ounce of weight at that.

The soul is indistructable. it cannot feel pain but can absorb all that has happened in your life. It is like a file which when it goes into your new life, will carry all the lessons of this life into the next. Unfortunately many forget. But there are a few who actually remember the last life. De ja vous is probably connected to our past life. When you think you have been here before. You probably did.

If we all knew there was life after death. I believe we would treat the earth better because we will come straight back and all what we have done will simply come back like a cosmic boomerang.

Don't worry, if you don't come back, you wont know anyway. If you do, you will probably forget this life. Apparently it takes forty years for the soul to go into another body. Meanwhile, the soul rests in a temporary plain above the earth. This time will pass quick. No knowledge of time of present. It will be like, now. Heaven is a higher plain. Hell is non existent. it was used to frighten people to get involved with religion or to scare people. The soul cannot feel pain. It is only the physical body that can feel pain because of the atoms and the structure of the body. The soul is simply an energy.

It leaves your body and then enters the body of an about-to-be-born baby of its choice. Soul is eternal.

Only James Brown had soul and he's dead now. We're screwed!

    LOL!

I like the way john thinks. I hope that is true. But i get a feeling that there might not be an afterlife.

Yes, they are. Some souls are much more developed than others. Some don't even enter bodies, and instead act as Spirit Guides.

The answer is simple. They are not made. Each year, 50,000 species die, according to various nature preservation sources. So, the souls from the dead species enter human bodies.

Let me bring some happiness into your life. To name just one of the many people who have souls today:
The Unabomber ... Who, unfortunately, is currently in jail. He is referred to by some as the new James Brown. Read the Unabomber's Manifesto, and you'll see that he has a soul.

There is. If you try hard, you'll see it in your dreams. The soul does not have to enter a body immediately after is escapes the body. It could wait as long as required, be it 100 years or an eternity, until there's a good opportunity for that soul to try to fullfill its purpose on the earth.

You must be high as a kite.

He's a prime example for the death penalty.

Soul? Yo have GOT to be high!

Yup, thanks for the compliment. Very original comparison, I'd say.
Now, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I am slightly higher than just a kite. In a different sense than you meant it, though. ;)

P.S. I apologize, I confused James Brown (which you mentioned), with John Brown (the abolitionist).

That may be true, but his manifesto still has some good points. But if you want to discuss that, let's make a separate topic, as I don't really want to post offtopic in this one, aye? :)

Yeah but how could you know that theres afterlife I don't think there is a way to possibly know. You can think something but that doesn't make it right. I think that all the people that think theres afterlife are actually just hoping for afterlife when in reality this is all there could be.

People who think there's an afterlife have a reason to believe it, though it's not possible to prove. My reason to believe that there is an afterlife is because I had a very realistic lucid dreams where I saw my own death somewhere in the middle of the 19th century with a materialization in a somewhat futuristic looking area that could only be from the future. So, basically, I saw a past life and a future life. Of course, one could argue that this could be created by my imagination, but I don't think that dreams come from imagination. I believe dreams come from an entirely different part of human, the subconcious, which, I believe, has a memory of both the past and the future. Which leads to the conclusion that time is cyclical. But that's just my own opinion.

Then, here's a question to think about. If the only person in the world you can refer to as an "I" is yourself, and everyone else is a "he" or "she", then how did an "I" come into existence in the first place?

How do you know we aren't ALL one soul, perceiving through different eyes but Subconciously knowing we ARE only one......
