Hard ash?

I picked up a bag of bud the other day that looked great structually and smelt fucking amazing. But when your smoking it in a joint the ash goes rock hard, thus making the joint awfull. its almost as if it needs a much higher temperature to burn. Anybody else have this problem before and what can be done about it?

That's bizarre. I've never heard of this. Maybe you should try smoking it in a bowl.

 

Probably just really resiny, just knock off the ashy end and burn it with your lighter for a min or two.

But in all seriousness, if you started feeling weird effects from it, stay awawy from that shit. There's nothing good about smoking laced weed.

 

It could just be that you didn't break it up enough and there big pieces in the joint.

 

^nahh i've smoked joints before where there was like big lumps of weed in it. it was horrible looking but i do believe it burnt like an otherwise normal joint.. but theres a possible chance that i don't remember correctly

 

Back when I first started smoking I rolled a nice lumpy joint... had to relight it every 2mins

 

yeah we had to keep relighting it. but like i don't have a piece or anything so i just pick out the seeds and stems and crush up the weed as best as i can and repack a cigarette with it. hey're really bumpy lol ut they burn okay

My thought was the weed was probably still a bit wet (dealers like to do that for more weight).

I know the skunk smoking community is now all too familular the sand/grit weed, also even that being weighted with sugar type substance. However, I feel there is a new danger, recently the quality has been getting worse again however, this time it seems not to be any of the above mentioned contaminates, but however something even harder to trace. The skunk bares no trance of particle contaminates but, when you try to "knock off", the ash seems to stay whole, solid and clung together, this can then be "crunched" and if rubbed onto paper very dark, almost sticky ash/residue is left. I have made solution with ash and distilled H2O and this seems to show some kind of fibrous material which stays suspended in solution with the water, these characteristics I assume would be different before burning. The other test I tried was to literally taste a small amount of un-burnt bud, upon presenting to my tongue it gave a very unpleasant/uncomfortable taste in my mouth



also acidic maybe. If anyone (at uni maybe?) has access to more advanced testing equipment (more than my tongue) something should be done. We can all assume the risks of smoking grit etc because, as long as the girt particles do not pass through the roach/filter there would be little problem, however this new contaminate would produce vapour when burnt thus being directly inhaled into the lungs, not good by any means I’m sure!! I doubt anything ever added is done out of malice or directly intend to harm, it's just to add weight thus, it's all obviously about the money...isn't it always...... I know the "grow your own" rule and yep that’s fine, also I just stop smoking when there’s only bad quality around. I'm really thinking of all the little guys without facilities or even the chance to know someone with. We need to get things back on track, unite and combat this problem; it would be such a cliché if loads of stoners died from smoking this shite we don't know what is, just because they couldn't be bothered to sort it out!! Yeah, you all know what I mean, we all have our moments!
