meeting new people. different ages!

tomorrow morning im off to start my volunteering at the philly folk fest site to help sign in volunteers and help with different things. i will be there alone and i usually like being with a friend to meet new friends. i dont know what to do as soon as i get there, at least what kinds of things to help get the conversations going. they will have people my age, and up to 60 years old! i am so nervous and afraid ill make a butt out of myself! any advice to help me calm the nerves?

haha...we're all a bit crazy. Like Death said, just be yourself. If they like you, they need to like you for who you are. Ask someone about their interests...ask questions to keep the conversation going.

 

I work with seniors a lot and most of them LOVE young people. Don't worry about it, just be yourself.

 

it seems to me that old people dont understand alot of the stuff that young people say, but they pretend to understand it. so if you be all like "what up yo in the hizzy we be gettin all tow up an hype" theyll be like "oh, that sounds swell. is it workin out good for you dearie?"

well no need to worry anymore. i never got to go. my dad and i were driving and we had to pick my brother up in paoli which was the opposite direction. so i was already 20 min late. Then as we were driving my dad and i got in an argument about the directions (dont EVER use map quest) so he said he wasnt taking me anymore. As we heading home, through my crys, i managed to say sorry and we started heading back to the festival. at least we thought. so i called my older brother to take a different route and then he said we had to take the turnpike and my dad went crazy saying hell no and all this mean Italian vocabulary. I am so sad,mad,angry and upset, i dont know if i can still go there this weekend. i dont know what to do, yet again.

the actual festival doesnt start untill friday but they have a thursday night show. i was supposed to go today to help set things up and check people in. I can still go to help but friday night im going to the allman brothers band concert so i wont be heading down to volunteer until saturday morning. I am so mad at myself for not planning this better!!!!!!

 

yeah it sounds like you overbooked and under reasearched yourself on this one. its ok though. shit happens. go to the allman brothers show

 

i know but what am i going to do about my graduation project!!!?
i hope that show is worth not graduating

 

oh i didnt know you had all that riding on this. well do your project to the best of your ability and if allman brothers can be fit in, then go. you could always sell teh tickets
