Psy-trance Anyone?

Hey guys. I thought about posting this in psychadelics, but i know most of you in here and you guys are my friends (not sayingg anything is wrong with the people in the psycahdelic forum. theyre quite nice.)

so anyway, anyone into psytrance ? favorite djs? cool stories from festivals?

i like live instrument psy-trance, AKA trance-jam. Disco biscuits, lotus, STS9.

I love psytrance. Ive been really into Simon Posford and OTT lately
Im really trying to make it to camp bisco to see Hallucinogen in Dub becasue that is going to be awsommme live psytrance

 

The disco biscuits on the first night of jam on the river was awsome because of the massive massive storm and it was like theyre music was corresponding with the lighting/thunder. Really cool

 

i heard about that! i couldnt make it... hallucinogen is made good. im planning on going to cmap bisco

 

yeah, out of all the disco biscuits shows ive been too that was definatly the most intense, with 2006NYE show comming in second. i also saw younger brother(hall.., shp..., pro...)

 

I know, that show was insane. The second night w/ STS9 was even more so though because

1. The storm was more intense
2. I was on acid

Trance is good.
Ultra is the best music scene ever. I went in 06 but not 07 and plan on going in 08! woohoo!
I like all the big timers. Tiesto, van dyk, van buuren, etc. i also like people like danny howells, lee burridge, satoshi tomiie, anything good really. Diverse in the house genre.
Psy trance is pretty cool too but I crave the variety that is available in house and other types of dance/electronic music.

It's Ott to rhyme with pot. He gets arsey with people calling him OTT . H.I.D. is just Ott remixes of Hallucinogen tunes so it'll probably be live psydub hehe

Without sounding pious and condescending (me? never...) that's the biggest load of horseshit. The artists you listed all fairly similar cut/paste producers cocaine ego DJ types. No variety in that, just kiddy glowstick wave your hands in the air, give us all your money music <see the ol' Trancecracker hehe>. You may well not like real psychedelic trance music but it's certainly a lot more varied than the same cliched melodies and tired remixes of old songs that commercial trance/house producers seem to churn out to keep them in sunglasses and cocaine.


I've been into goa/psy since around 97/98 with the old Distance to Goa compilations, Hallucinogen's Twisted, Cosmosis - Cosmology and starting to smoke weed and do other things opening me up to a new world after being a metalhead for ages... Haven't looked back and have been DJing for about 5 years now and play at clubs/outdoor raves/private parties whenever I get asked to... I play most aspects of psy from twisted evil nighttime stuff to bouncy funky fullon to chunky groovy prog through to more 'weird' stuff Suomisaundi, Aussie style stuff and the like ... Depends on the time of day and the crowd really, I likes it all just not cheesy melodies, need to keep it more psy and less trance ... I usually base my summer holidays on bopping around european psy festivals and have partied in many countries...

Best new album at the mo for me is Rastaliens - Back on Earth on PharPsyde Recs www.myspace.com/rastaliens for two full length tracks off the new release. Other good psy labels are Liquid Recs, Ketuh, Glowing Flame, WildThings and Exogenic to name a few... Check out some of their artists.

Good call on Younger Brother Wonka, saw them last month and can't wait for the new record... Going to sound well different to the first one but will be great I'm sure..

Listen to Converting Vegetarians, Becoming Insane and I am the Supervisor by them if you've never heard them.

 

PsyTrance is brilliant. I particularly like Infected Mushroom and Gong! It's the best music to unwind to on psychedelics. Some really fancy PsyTrance makes you feel like you're on shrooms anyway!

B.P. Empire (2001) was the last psytrance album they made...

Listen to some of the labels I recommended or go to a proper trance party and you'll understand what I mean... They are talented producers but the new work has shitty vocals which don't mean anything and they sell fizzy drinks to israeli kids, it's not psytrance, it's very very slickly produced pop music...

 

Yeah, infected is moving away from psy-trance.
