Last night I was channel surfing and I heard the word "faggots" on the local access channel. I turn it back and it turns out that this man was running for Lt. Gov. and his ENTIRE speech was how much he hates fags and how they are pure evil, and if he were elected he'd make sure that all homosexuals knew that they weren't welcomed in this state. I was speechless. He kept on talking about getting homosexuals out of the state because, get this, if there were no more homosexuals in the state, they couldn't recruit and moleste our youth into being faggots, so there would never be another gay person in Mississippi. He said he didn't get his party's nomination (which would be republican, but I would say he was apparently seeking a Nazi party nomination), because his ideas were too much for the current Gov. Baurbor and he was runnig as an independent to get "fags out of this state". God I really wish I could hire a national news team on his ass.

It's public access so I guess anyone can pretty much go on TV and voice their opinions, even if you do not agree with them...well, almost anything except "nappy headed hoe" haha.

That is utterly disgusting. I really dislike rednecks. They think conformity is cool, in a sick way.

Ignorance of this magnitude-is completely baffling to me.
I can't believe how behind the times so much of America is when it comes to this subject.
BTW-What is the name of this speaker that is running for office?
    I'd like to know more.

Wow ... so much hostility for this obviously mis-informed human being. Are we any better for wanting to kill this man than he is for wanting us out of his state? No matter what he will never "purge" Mississippi of "faggots" as he so elequently put it. I can undestand your being irate with this man, as I am as well but hostility only breeds more hostility. Anyway ... Yup thats what I think.

Not a good definition but you should be able to gather an idea.

Grateful Soul.....this is what I was trying to hint at exactly....but everyone here had already drawn their guns for battle.

Of course you are offended by this person's comments....I'm sure they are offended by your lifestyle.....luckily a person who likes to flap their gums about "faggots" will not get too far in society...even in the deep South.

If you wanted to go on Public Access and talk about getting rid of Rednecks, I would be offended in a way I guess....I mean a "Redneck" is a stereotype and I could be lumped into that group too....I mean, I work on a farm, drive a pickup truck, say "ya'll" on a daily basis, and like country music......so SHOOT ME TOO! That's where generalization kicks in....I do not fly a confederate flag, shoot raccoons, hate "fags", and I have all my teeth (all stereotypes).....

No one here is going to shoot that speaker....instead, stop spreading MORE HATE and write a letter to this person or call this person and offer to openly discuss their views on public tv....I would watch that....and give you a million times more credit for doing that!

It is a shame that there are people in any form of power, that think this way, but many people have prejudices, so Iguess the only thing you can do is try to show people that we are just like everyone else.

i am originally from mississippi and it is very sad that this type of mentality and attitudes still exists in 2007. do not let a few hateful rednecks infleunce your attitudes toward all southern people. bigots are everywhere unfortunately, these attitudes are accepted more in the south. just do not forget there are many open minded people throughout the south.

jackson Mississippi has a very active and strong gay community. One ignorant redneck will never change that. I grew up there and had my first experiences there. I love Mississippi and eventually hope to move back there.

For the other person who asked, The term comes from outdoor working class people--farmers and such--that spend the day in the Mississippi sun and therefore have a red neck from the sun. As I always understood it, a redneck is someone who is narrow minded and ignorant. Some people (who are also narrow minded and ignorant) may expand that definition to include uneducated working class people. But only the most ignorant people make this generalization.

I feel pity on this guy,They say homophobia is Gay and if there's truth to that this guys got monster issues, anyone who has that much hate in my opinion is probably a pretty unhappy/miserable suffering human being,I'm angry too but this goes on so often it does'nt surprise me at all.

Hate will never cease with more hatred only by love can it be healed.

I agree with him. It's what I defing redneck as, massively intolorant, behind the times conformists pretty much. Now Jeff Foxworthy is a "redneck", completely differant and less unnerving when they speak.

I hate that guy and what he said, but I value freedom of speech more then I hate him after hearing that. Bad vibes though, he'll get his one day.
