Okay so here is the deal, I met a girl three months ago, and we are a bit apart in age. I am a single father of 2, and my children have know several of my "girlfriends" in the past. I know, I know it is bad. Okay so I never stayed with them in the past due to too many differences. Well this girl happens to be the "ONE". I know and feel it. So far since day one we have been great. We enjoy each others company, we do almost everything together, and I have fallen in love. I am so happy, and she said she loved me too. I know she is the girl I want to marry, and I made a comment about it and kinda left it open, along the lines of I know I could spend my life with someone like you, but no real definate day. She made the comment that engagement after one year is good. So I have been patiently biding my time. Just recently she acted a bit funny. She said she did not know if she felt the same connection as me, and that she did not know if she ever could. I tried to explain that it is normal, and everyone questions thier intentions with thier partner. EVEN IN MARRIAGE! I want to last with her. She has no complaints about me, I treat her well, don't call her names, I respect her, and I am there for her. When she was sick and well, upchucking, I rubbed her back and even stuck my hand in the sink to unclog. Most guys I know don't do that. I make sure I get her what she wants and needs. And she always told me she was gonna be with me forever. That she loved me, and I was her wolrd and her everything. She loves my kids and they love her a great deal. She does say that she gets irritated with me a lot. But still I feel this is normal. I am at wits end trying to figure out what is going on. And after she said all about the connection thing, she then turns and tells me she loves me and wants to be with me. I am slowing the relationship down a bit to take some stress off of her. But, do any of you have any recommendations or answeres? What is the deal? What do I do?

hmm what i can see, is that whole commitment thing, many people are awkward on this subject. I think you should just lie back, dont worry about marrige, or getting engaged, if she does want to be with you forever, then she will stay. Perhaps she feels marraige traps her or it will take away from her lifestyle? its hard to know, but still imo just relax about the whole thing and enjoy each other :)

Okay. This is the best advice that I can give. First, Don't beat around the bush. Open communication is the key to making a relationship last. If you are skirting around the subject of marriage, Don't! Bring the subject up. If she doesn't open up and communicate to you about how she feels about the situation, then in my oppinion she isn't ready to commit. This is supposing that you are really curious of how she feels. If you dont mind then just go with the flow. I just got out of a really bad marriage and I have two boys my self. I am currently engaged to my best friend of 9 years. Granted we have known eachother for 9 years but we both have loved eachother as well. We both are divorced and He treats me like gold and I treat him the same. My point, everything should be mutual for a relationship to work. If at first it isn't a mutual feeling or decission, there is always that wonderful word, COMPROMISE. If two people truely love one another then Compromise will turn out to be their best friend and their secret to a lasting and full filling relationship. If you truely love this girl, let her know your feelings. Tell her that you are IN LOVE with her. Let her know that some day you would love to marry her but if she isn't ready, also let her know that you are willing to wait. (assuming you truely love her, the wait won't seem that bad). My fiance waited 9 years to be with me, im sure you could do the same for this girl. Good luck to you.
