I was recently diagnosed as having moderate GAD. Ya reckon that I may get a benzo prescription or will they most likely give me some SSRI or shit like that? Anybody know what benzo is most typically prescribed for this diagnosis?

dude they are gonna give u some crappy antidepressent like lexapro.. if u want a benzo u gotta convince the dr. u got really bad "ANXIETY ATTACKS" use that word. and just be convincing that these anxiety attacks happen like when u are in public or w/e.

GAD will usually get you Prozac or some shit.
Just get the perscription and go back a few times(not taking those crazy pills ofcourse)
and finally tell hem you don't fell generally anxious but have RANDOM attacks of sever anxiety.
The key is to wait a few visits as to not come off as a drug seeker.

Yep, that is true. That has happened to me just recently. I have GAD and the doctor has given me lexapro, buspar, and celexa all to try. I was just like... gee thanks. I know that these drugs a re full of crap. I am going to back and see her again and I am going to remember the panic attacks in public thing.
