Well, after two years of jib-jabbing, my dad finally became aware that I am his worst nightmare come true -- an ultra-liberal atheist. My dad is a Reagan conservative and a charismatic evangelical. He even has his own tv program on our local satellite stations. His church has over 1,500 members and is probably one of the two most prominent churches in the area. He has been a minister since before I was born. His dad is a minister. And my mother's dad was a minister. My whole family (with the exception of one of two hidden members) are Conservative Christians. Lo and behold, here am I! A 32 year old, father of two, ultra left-wing, atheist married in a completely open and honest relationship with the most understanding, liberal female I've ever met. My father is devastated of course. He will attempt to re-convert me to my childhood belief system. I am both sad and happy.
In a way it must feel really freeing to have it out in the open. Had you previously been trying to hide it?
Heh, I had to deal with the same thing awhile back. Fortunately, after a lot of talking my parents were chill with it. Funny thing is, now my parents are like friends too
