ok...so i'm looking for appartments out in san francisco...just as a plan b for the next few months...i don't really want to explain...but where in frisco will there be a lot of little shops...and gay people...and inexpensive appartments...and just an all around good place...on an extremely low budget. don't worry...employment will soon follow relocation...so...any ideas?
the Castro is the center of the gay community, but i can tell you right now, if you want inexpensive your going to probably have to live in Oakland...SF is probably the most expensive in America...do some searches on line...but last time i checked a studio apartment was like 1500 or more per month.
I agree. San Fran is a bit pricy. Try lookin over around the Oakland/Berkeley area. A friend of mine is supporting herself while livign on the border of Oakland and Berkeley. can't be that bad if she can afford a 1 bedroom apt to herself. Berkeley is pretty hip, so being gay there should be pretty cool. At least that's the impression I got from the area. I guess that's why I'm moving there next spring...maybe.
I hate to tell you there is nothing inexpensive in san francisco anymore, castro is great, polk is still nice, i don't think you should limit yourself to one area or another.. sf is mostly gay!! also try south of market -- very up an coming, there are several roommate services craigslist.com might help sf based forum good luck tracy
my second choice is new york city...um...if anyone knows where is should go there...although i've been there a bunch and have a good idea... essentially...i can afford a slum...maybe a nice slum...but a slum all the way.
Look in Brooklyn. They are redoing a lot of old warehouses in the industrial area, and making AWESOME loft apartments, reasonably priced. The one I have been to is a great building, with a great view. It is also across the park from a housing project. My friends that live there, though, have not had or heard of any problems there. Parts of Greenwich Village, SOHO, and Chelsea are great too, but I think they are more pricey. Good luck to you.
I'm curious to hear what the third choice is.... Tokyo? Beverly Hills? Folks have pretty much told you that you have chosen two of the most expensive places to crash. Unless you have a support system, a job in the wings or LOTS of spending money, I'd stay away from starting up in those two places. I say that because I grew up in NYC and moved to San Francisco when I finished college. BTW, please don't call it "Frisco". It's San Francisco. Nobody in San Francisco says, "Frisco," and nobody in San Francisco likes to hear it.
i know i chose expensive places...but i mean...general area...it really doesn't matter that much...just to get the hell out of here would be great. and thanks for the pointer...people out here call it frisco...but i'll remember not to say it anymore.
