Howlin' Wolf's Evil is a fine song. However the Cd London Session is a fine bit of music! You need to check out the line up! One bit of 411, it was Howlin Wolf's long time guitar player Hubert Sumlin that made it all possible! Check out HS, Bout them Shoes
My favorite of the more recent blues is Janiva Magness, boy would I like to see her in concert. I love John Lee Hooker, Van Morrison, John Porter, Eric Clapton, John Mayall, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Steve Winwood, Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green, and many more. Oh, and when my hubby sings to me Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Pride and Joy", I melt! : D
Evil is a great song. I love Evil, Spoonful, Killing Floor, Highway 49, Shake For Me, I Ain't Superstitious, I'll Be Around, Smokestack Lightening, Moaning At Midnight, Backdoor Man and Goin' Down Slow best.
Going Down Slow is an awesome song. I love the Allman Brothers. Duane's a legend. I have, though, heard them do Water's 'Hoochie Coochie Man'. And live!! Not with the original lineup obviously, but still very thrilling.
Listen my new friend ABB Live At Filmore East or Idlewild South, pls listen to these. Now the new line up w/ D.Truckers and Warren Haynes, man-o-man! After all that you must listen to Gov.'t Mule
I have Live at Filmore East on vinyl! Great album. Gov't Mule I have heard little of, but will check out. What kind of group are they?
Gov't Mule's front man is Warren Haynes a guitar player of excellent talent. Mule in the early days was a 3 piece rock band. When Woody died their outstanding bass player who also toured w/ the ABB, they added an organ player. After Woody died Dave Schools from WSP filled in and the band continued to tour. Now they are a 4 piece band and a very good band at that! The Cd DOSE, go back to their early days to listen. I promise you will enjoy their style and music. Warren Haynes has played and toured w/ Phil Lesh along with Jimmy Herring. They both played w/ The Other Ones and Warren Haynes took Garcia place when the Grateful Dead toured. Once again with Jimmy Herring. Haynes and Trucks have been on tour with the ABB for yrs. Derek Trucks has been playing since he was six his uncle is Butch Trucks, who as you know is a main stay for the ABB. When Gregg Allman first heard Derek play the slide he cried, because he sounded so much like Duane.
She does a wonderful John Prine tune Angel From Montgomery. And is currently on tour with her husband.
Free did my favourite version of Goin down slow! Oh yeah, blues rocks, but psych blues rock can beat it sometimes
