Refrigerating them would be optimal, however I have heard of people just storing them in a box in room temp. and still not ruining them. Just don't forget to shake it when you eventually get it out and get ready to inoculate.
my buddy took a spore syringe, and under horribly dirty conditions cut the needle off and sealed it with crazy glue, tripple bagged it and taped it to his leg near his crotch and hopped on a plane, then stored it in a pipe bag at room temperature for 3 months and now it was still viable.
