ok, im going to by a used 8600 256mb geforce 2day, i dont think i will need higher cuz my monitor is only 17inch. so will that be enough or do i need 600+ mb one? and the main question, i know its best to get dx 10 once i get it, and that would mean vista. i have one dl'd, the best version - it would mean i would have to burn much stuff onto dvds to not lose it, but do i go vista or stay xp pro? also does dx10 backtrack? say i play dx9 games still will they work on vista and dx10?
there is no incentive to switching to vista right now. your computer will run faster with xp, and there is nothing that requires vista yet.
I havent heard one good thing about Vista yet.. i say you wanna get the most out of your computer.. dump XP as well and go with win2k SP4.. best MS OS EVER
stick with xp, vista is buggy, and filled with shit to waste your life. There are also reports about microsoft allowing the government to go into your computers through vista. ^^^But that could be just random bull I have read.
Damn Nate? Where did you hear that? Lol. I'm gonna go delete all my emulators and shit off my dads vista computer. lol. But yea. I'd just stick with XP or 2000.
Vista in a few words. DRM bullshit Bloated MS scratching Intels back Cheap slow graphics engine. Don't do it. Its not smart. Vista is a HORRIBLE operating system, though I heard the SP1 pack theyre releasing does some good.
I have a BFG overclocked 8600 GTS, and it's great no complaints whatsoever so far as for upgrading i dont think it's worth it simply for DX10, most games dont even utilize it yet, and from what i've heard the ones that do are nothing special anyways
