does anyone know of any bands similar to shpongle? I love their cultural influence on their music...and the fact that they DON'T have those techno drum sounds. Also does anyone know where to find Terrence Mckenna audio...and shaman music? Thanks for the help

Eat Static (Ozric Tentacles side project)
    Ozric Tentacles

both are pretty similar to Shpongle. Ozrics are one of my fave ever. They totally rock, have over 20 albums. Also Simon Posford (member of Shpongle) has some cool stuff.

hahahahahahahahaha.....I was just listening to a new way to say hurray. I have ozric tentacles on my iPod. Let me give you guy's a small list of other bands that are similar and sound amazing. Ulrich Schnauss (amazing), Sound Tribe Sector 9, The Cheebacabra (awesome jazz fusion), perpetual groove (not alot like shpongle but good enough), Kaki King (is acoustic and is amazing), Underworld (Amazing), also if you like acoustic give Dominic frasca a try (look him up on youtube it will say impossible guitar)....he will blow you away. Also give pandora.com a try. It seems that I didn't really need that much help I guess...haha.

Eli is right, pandora is a GREAT tool for searching new artsits.

but i hate to say it, Perpetual Groove sounds NOTHING like Shpongle. They are a decent sounding band, but Shpongle is electronic phychadelic stuff. P groove is jam band, rock, esque. And Kaki King is purely an acoustic player (shes damn fine and an incredible musician though lol.) Infected Mushroom, Bassnectar, and Hallucinogen (check out Hallucinogen) are some more "electronic" type artists that are worth a listen.

Try Raja Ram's solo stuff - he's the man behind Shpongle. ( I get a big kick from the fact that he's even older than me)

Some Terrence McKenna audio can be found here:

    enjoy!!
