So I had more than a few run ins with security at college and was wondering if vaporizers is a stealthier way to blaze...Does anyone out there know if they do in deed conceal the smell of pot? I found this small one for only $50 so if vaporizers don't smell I think i'm gonna pull the trigger on it. Any thoughts/ knowledge on whether vaporizing smells like blazing?

vaporizers smell, but smell less strong than smoking.

thats a shitty vaporizer. you buy a cheap vape, and you'll get shitty results. i highly recommend at least a vapor-cannon style unit. they're pricey, but not so bad as a volcano, and they work great. use it in combination with a spoof and a small ozone unit ( http://www.cigarsinternational.com/prodDisp.asp?item=M-CZ1500&cat=82 ) and you'll have great results with so little smell someone could walk in the room in the middle of a session, and so long as they didnt see your vaporizer or whip, they'd never know what was up...

i havent, but i've heard mixed things about the vapir ONE and related products.

the vapor cannon actually has a very simple design and there are MANY brands that use nearly identical designs. they should all work very well, and are relatively affordable compared to the volcano and other super high tech vaporizers.

this type of vaporizer is a cousin of the standard, very low quality bubble vaporizer:

this type uses what is essentially the heating element of a soldering iron to heat a small disc upon which you place your weed. the weed is in constant contact with the heat, and the vapor is trapped in the glass bubble until you breathe it in. since the weed is in constant contact with the heat, it is expended fairly quickly, and often ignites and smolders, defeating the whole point of vaporizing in the first place. also, since all the vapor is made available continuously until the weed is expended, you have to constantly hit it in order to prevent too much of it cooling and resinating the inside of the dome...you lose a lot of the active ingredients because they revert out of their vaporous state once they cool just enough.

the box-style vaporizers are different, though.

they use essentially the same heating element, only in the box vaporizer the element is suspended horizontally, and is sheathed in a glass sleeve open at both ends.

the cannabis is placed in a glass bowl with a screen in it, attached to plastic tubing with a glass mouthpiece. a screen keeps the cannabis in place. the entire piece is usually called a whip. you hold the part with the cannabis to the glass sleeve and inhale slowly, allowing the heated air to vaporize the THC and other cannabinoids in the pot. its far harder to burn your pot this way, but if you overfill the whip and get the unit too hot, it can happen. in general it is far more effective and efficient than the domes, which lose a LOT of your THC through resinating the unit.

the top-of-the-line digital vaporizers are the best, highest quality products you can get, and are the most efficient. the good ones are hundreds of dollars each, and any that approach the cost of things like box style vaporizers aren't generally very well made and some have some significant flaws.

if you're looking at spending less than 200 dollars, you ought to get a box-style vaporizer. anything less than that isnt worth the money, though, imo.
