I've always thought learning sign language would be fun. But I've got pretty bad hand-eye co-ordination. I'd probably be continously saying 'Fuck you' instead of 'Thank you.' How did you get into that?
theres a big need for it in missouri , its american sign language, so instead of saying , the dog is cute. i would sign dog cute and point to it. ASL is cool cus you get straight to the point and in english we never talk with the subject first like all the other languages you know? but you arent suppose to look at your hands, but into the eyes of the other person, and vice versa.
haha fuck you --- take both hands and make 2 peace signs. then bump them together so that your thumbs touch each other. do that twice. thats the sign for fuck then point to someone. thats fuck you. lol turn one hand the opposite and bump them. thats 69. hehehe. seriously.
I'm not too bad at languages. Do you have different signs for every word or do you spell out what you are trying to say? When you're listening, surely you must have to look at the other's hands?
hahaha! glad i taught you well, actually its considered rude to look at thier hands when they talk. but they understand if your learning. I used to go to silent socials at the coffee shop where interepreters, teachers, deaf community and student come together and just talk in sign language. its very educational, and fun. I brought my hub cogliostro to one before. There is a sign for almost every word, some times you fingerspell, like your name, but then follow up with your name sign. Its usually the first intitial of your first name into a sign. mine is flower. and after you have introduced yourself, like i would introduce myself as d-a-r and then a d shape in the sign of flower. and thats what they would call me.
