My dog just took a chunk out of a young rabbit... Vet is closed so I put some gozz on it and put some medical tape on it. Dont think its in to bad of shape, just missing a nice chunk of pelt. I put it in a box with some grass and some apple, any suggestions on what i could do. Probably keep it as a pet now, seems to be in shock right now, want to get it feeling better.
You should probably take it to one of those wildlife rescues. It's not very fair to keep it as a pet if it's wild.
keep it warm and dark, see if you can get it to eat the grass though with a wild bun i dont know how you would do that :S i agree you should get it to a wildlife rehab or a vet, after a shock like that it may be/go into gut stasis, this needs medical intervention as a bunjie cant restart its own guts working if they have stopped already. i very much doubt that it would adapt to life as a pet. give it a shallow dish of water too, though i doubt it will drink. also try and pad the box a little so it cant hurt itself further if it starts thrashing around looking for a way out. if there is no blood, and nothing missing apart from the pelt, s/he should heal ok (the vet will probably stich or use surgical glue). they are very prone to skin tears through fighting at they have very thin skin and VERY sharp teeth! keep a close eye and see if s/he poops at all. poops are a good sign for rabbits, the more the merrier! no poops or poops that get smaller and smaller are the signs of stasis a real veterinary emergency. good luck, i hope litte 'un gets well very soon!
I was going to take it to the wildlife place today, but it didnt make it through the night, to much trauma i guess. I dug it a hole, wrapped it up, put a carrott beside him... Just hope my dog dosnt dig it up
