Has anyone else played this? I tried it for a few minutes and felt a bit confused by how it works and I am not exactly sure of the point, but I am intrigued. Anyone else play?
Like you, I signed up and tinkered with it for a while. I was having a lot of trouble moving around in the environment (running into walls, etc.), and I still don't get why I would "play" this "game". What's the point? Learning how to use my computer keys? Yawn.
I am in the 'tried it once, tinkered and then promptly deleted' club. Pretty much just a pretty chat room. I guess as an mmorpg fan, it seemed silly 'cause I can get that out of any mmo AND there's a game ta boot!
I checked it out when it first started up. It is a good concept, but not well executed. Of course I'm sure it's better these days. The whole dealy with it is to MAKE MONEY by offering "virtual services" that people pay for in fake money, which allows you to buy services from others. Supposedly it's all supposed to interface with the real world at some point, providing virtual shops for people to purchase stuff. But I found it quite gimmicky and a big waste of time.
I signed into on recommendation by a friend who loved it. Didn't have a scooby what was going on so promptly de-registered.
It's funny cause Second Life tried hard to get corporations and small bizes on board with their virtual reality. But in the intervening time, Facebook managed to get them all on board without creating such an involved 3D virtual world. The reason bizes didn't like it, is you need to learn how to create stuff in that world, and to be successful you'd have to be real good at it. And that is where the big time waster is. You can spend months setting up a virtual shop there. I think the big prob is you won't get much visibility via search engines, as second life is a world unto itself.
never actually spent any money, real or fake, there... was looking for ways to connect with my partner all those miles away... we never found each other and i kept finding myself stuck in walls etc... lol... deleted it...
