I've been suffering from this (girls stilettos heels everyday are bad, stilettos and running even worse!!!) since april, I've tried almost everything. I was wondering if anyone of you especially younger people have suffered from this and what have you done and did it go away? I miss being active so much, I miss running and jumping and being able to have a day without pain. I'll try anything, I'm good that way so any thoughts and suggestions would be great.

Have you looked into foot reflexology? Bodywork can do wonders to the feet. I'm working on my massage certificate and I've seen people go from flat-footed to normal, and from pidgeoned toed to straight, in as little as one session.

I have had this off and on for about four years now. My podiatrist said it is due to my flat feet. I had to be on 800mg of ibuprophin twice/day for three months and after that I had to get a cortizone shot (painful!!!).

It eventually went away but the trick is to keep it away so I had to bite the bullet and start to buy expensive shoes instead of getting whatever looked good at Payless. The best thing I ever did was to get mephistos sandals. I look like a wicked hippie but I wear them everyday to work. I also went to a running shoe store and had them fit me for a good pair of sneakers. They watched me walk up and down the aisle and from that they knew exactly what pair to give me. I got inserts to put in them for extra support as well.

For relief I normally take a water bottle that has been frozen and put it on the floor and then put my foot on top of it and roll it back and forth. It helps relieve the tension that has built up and numbs it at the same time.

I would highly recommend seeing a podiatrist though since ironically walking is the best thing to cure it but you cannot do that without getting some painkillers or a cortizone shot. Good luck!

Thanks everyone, I've been learning so much. I'm not big into taking pain killers (unless they are the herbal kind), so I've been gritting my teeth a lot. It sucks. I've been using your suggestions and I feel more confident that I'm doing some of the right things! Thanks so much.

Just be careful because if you grind your teeth too much you'll end up with TMJ which is a whole nuther ball of wax!!!

I hear you on the not wanting to take meds thing but my doctor put it to me this way once.......if you don't take them, you won't walk as much and if you don't walk as much you'll never get rid of this. If you're afraid of abusing the pain killers perhaps have someone that is close to you dose them out to you? Anyway I hope it heals soon because I know how very painful this can be.
