So does anyone else have it instead of a high school diploma? I've been interested in either getting it, or just doing online classes because the highschool I go to is going through all new adminstration and staff, and all the schedules are fucked.. I've been changed into 4 different classes in the first 3 days, so I figure maybe I should just get it over with sooner than later.

Is getting your GED easier, or should I just stick out hell for a few more years?

It is when they say you can't graduate with the class you intended to because of 1.5 credits :(

Yeah I thought it was easier, I'm 16 right now but I'll be 17 in December so I might just do that and go to my community college for 2 years. Just my parents will be against the decision, my dad dropped out when he was 16 and always told me never to do what he did (he owns a lawn service now, makes good money but its back breaking work) and my mom will flip a shit, but its my decision in the long run..

Oh and topnotch, what'd you get as a score, I think a 410 is the minimum but I'm not sure

410 was the minimum for each individual test score. I think between the four or five courses, you had to have an average of 450. That might have changed though, I got my "Good Enough Degree" back in 1999.

    Bets of luck dude ~

    Language Arts-Reading:800
    Mathematics:670

The tests are pretty easy too, and I was stoned as hell when I took it.

Thanks man, I'm gonna look into it alittle more, but I know I could pass it. Do employers still look at it the same as a highschool diploma? Or would they label you a reject and throw your application in the trash?

As I stated, I got my GED back in 1999. For the next two years before I decided to try college out, I worked nonstop and never had a problem getting a job because I didn't have a highschool diploma. I worked in restaurants, did filing for a county clerk and worked partime at a nature preserve giving guided tours.

I never graduated from college either, so on paper, all I have still is that damn GED :) Now I do graphic design/art freelance and that's paying the bills just fine.

If anybody tries to tell you that you can't be successful without a highschool diploma, they're huffing their own farts.

If you can get your diploma, do it. GED=Good Enough Diploma. A high school diploma is easy as fuck to get, and you'd have to be not too bright to not get a diploma.

Yeah I've been thinking about the idea all summer, saved up some money mowing lawns and stuff.. (about 400$ in the bank.. not much I know) just the idea of moving out sooner then most people my age is kinda scary, and having bills.. just abit overwhelmed right now, which leaves me no time/money on weed or pill's for awhile.

Actually its not that I can't do it, I just feel its a waste of time for what I want to do. I don't want to be some big-shot with a 200,000$+ house or anything, it's just not that important to me. Material things are last on my list, so why waste my time when I could be done with it now and move on with my life sooner than later ya know?

i totally recommend getting a GED. the test is very easy and it got me right into college.

i wish i would of dropped out earlier, got my GED earlier, and started college earlier.

IMO, highschool is the biggest waste of time ever!!!

See thats what I was thinking.
I just don't know how to explain it to my parents, what did you guys say to them? Or did they not care and support your decision?

well i got kicked out of school and had to get my GED, but like i said before i wish i would of dropped out earlyer and got it. My mom totally thinks getting a GED is the best decision i could of made if i would of done it a year or two before i got kicked out.

just get as much info as you can on the GED, and talk to your parents. thats what i did.
