who else was there? i'm not a strangefolk fan but i enjoyed the festival quite a bit. all the bands were fantastic. all night bands, all night drum circle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife and I didn't make it there. We live in Wisconsin and were just our in that area about 3 weeks ago! But did you happen to see (or stop by) Vernville? That's our family! Love and light to you herman.
OH YEAH! i watched blue man group videos with them. the next night i saw a couple of cops watching the blue man group video. they looked like they were captivated by it. they also played the wizard of oz with darkside. very cool. is there anyone else with any garden stories?
so they're not as good since reid left? i'm not that familiar with them. i've seen them twice now and both times i went back to my camp site. very professional players but as far as the lyrics go they make me wince. just can't get into them at all. i was more impressed with the drummer and the little semminar he had in the morning with wasserman. they both had some cool things to say and play.
Reid was the person who founded Strangefolk. His last show with them was Garden of Eden in 2000, what an emotional weekend. He was a lyrical/vocal genius. After he left they replaced him with Patchen....... the guy is a good guitarist, but can't write lyrics worth a damn. Check out the Assembly of Dust if you get the chance, it's Reid's new band, and they blow Strangefolk out of the water!
thanks for the info. i had a feeling that was the case. i don't want to be overly critical because i'm not a writer of anything. i have a hard benough time writing letters. when i was in college my girlfriend was my editor. maybe some of us just do better having a person like that around-maybe that's what strangefolk need. now that i'm really thinking about this bad lyric thing, many bands have outside help like the dead and phish- and even king crimson in the early days had pete sinfield.
