So I went to Florida last week and had an amazing time. While I was there, my dreads were driving me up the wall. They itched no matter what I did, I couldn't get them to stay in place, and they were falling out again. So, I accually sat down and thought about the negitives and positives. The -'s out-weighed the +'s by a long shot. With the help of a friend, we spent about 5 hours combing them out. It was not fun at all. So I have my hair back and I dunno what to do with it. It keeps tangling up. I kinda look like Carrot top right now. I wanted to know if anybody here recommends a hair product that will detangle my hair and keep it weighed down.

Conditioner... And one of those ones that have a lot of residue and silicone, like pantene etc. Not good for dreads, but some what better for untangled hair (still not "good" for normal hair...)

i think you might do good to try one of those baby shampoos and conditioners that are all "no-more-tangles." other than that, just use normal conditioner, i guess. i'm sorry your dreadies were so short-lived.

Get a bottle of cheap conditioner with a lot of slip--Vo5 is a good one (and they don't test on animals), apply handfuls of it to wet hair, and finger-comb through until your hair is untangled. If the tangles are really bad, put a plastic bag over your hair while the conditioner is still in and let it sit for an hour before rinsing out. If your hair still needs to be weighed down after you get the tangles out, mix a squirt of olive or jojoba oil with a glob of aloe vera gel and run through your hair; it should help it stay put.

yea They were short-lived but I can say I had em and got the t-shirt. I miss em already. I've accepted the fact that I have awsome curly hair and I should use what the good Lord gave me.

After 6 months I combed mine out... I used Pantene shampoo & conditioner & let the conditioner sit in my hair for a good 5-7 minutes before I rinsed & then repeated. You should get a trim also... with all the broken hairs my head was all a different length. My hair is now super long, straight & beautiful.
