jim was a poet, and had unbelievable intelligence and intellect for a person his age, in my opinion he was more than just a singer and a poet. he lived by his motto, "the road to excess leads to the palace of wisdom". did he really reach the final palace of wisdom? do u think he crossed over to a new reality or perhaps heaven? it is true he was a huge alcy but so what? he was also sooo much more, the first time i ever heard him was one of his recorded poems on American Prayer he got into my very soul, his lyrics captured me, he definetly was more than jsut a man... ur thoughts? my goal was to start a discussion..
Jim Morrison was a man.. nothing more, nothing any more supernatural then what we all possess.. not to burst your bubble, but when ppl saw him walking (stumbling) down Haight Street with his buddies, they would cross to the otherside of the street as to not have to deal with his baligerence.. he thought himself a god perhaps, but he was flesh and bone like the rest of us.. he did too much dope and ODed, nothing sacred about it. Shooting Heroin in your veins is nothing to idolize or imulate. A wasted life if your not here to enjoy it. Jim Morrison had a dark soul and was hostile. I wasn't a big fan of The Doors, to dark.. not good to 'Trip' with.. made scarry visuals, snakes and killing and blood.. not LSD-25 meterial.. I watched as our 'leaders' went down one by one, from Heroin or a bullet over a heroin deal, a few just dissapeared.. Most became hostiles in the end..their sprirt changed and the ugly moved in. They lost the path to Light and Love and let the beast devour them. Not all of them surcame to the darkness but too many did.. all that fame thrust upon them at once, while they were fuckedup. When they became famous they had more money to buy better, more potent drugs.. they couldn't deal with it.. the drugs got in the way with their genius. It was their pain that made the music, it was the drugs that ended it. sh
He was certainly human... and not very bright (nearly everything he wrote was plagarized from elsewhere) .... wot he did have was looks and charisma... and like all who rely on such things... he became bitter and twisted.
all geniuses are kinda creepy and obscure, think of, for instance, kurt cobain, edvard munch, virginia woolf, sylvia plath. but they got feelings and they act as humans. not for being famous and wonderfully talented, it means they are supernatural creatures or something like that. and jim morrison was just a simply clever and charismatic man with great imagery and feeling for music and poetry.
He obviously found a way to mesmerize the populice, through sex and rock n roll, but like Lester Bangs said, he was a drunken buffoon. Still, I wouldn't have kicked him out of bed, persay.
I have read that Morrisons father was deeply involved in the CIA and clandestine operations, including child-kidnapping rings and satanic secret societies. It is widely known that such underground societies do operate within the government and the CIA... really scary stuff. Anyway, Morrison was deeply anti-establishment for a reason, maybe this was the same reason he was deeply disturbed? I have read alot about the sickness of the CIA and all the evil that goes on, if I had a father involved in that I would be a complete mess myself. Anybody else hear about this? It's not a common factoid in his biographies at all. Some people go as far as to say that Morrison was actually involved in satanism etc. but that's hard to swallow. In any case, Morrison sang about the snakes, the serpents, blood rituals etc. for a reason, they are entirely symbolic of these satanic societies which operate around the world especially within the government. I think he knew exactly what his father was involved in but could never have come out and told people, so he expressed it through dark lyrics.
woa woa woa i nevvvvver heard anything even remotely close to that. his father was a rear-admiral and a navy pilot in the military, how would that link him to the cia? also, it is most likely the fact that his parents were strict authoritarian conservatives that made him so anti-establishment. as for his dark sided ego, my only guess would be because he was constantly moving as a child and never had many friends except for his books. also id love to see where u read this verrrry bizarre info. link me
The first time I read it was in a book by David Icke and if you know the kind of things he writes about it's easy to see why it sounds so bizzare calling himself the 'Lizard King' and referring to serpents, snakes, death etc. pretty much made him an easy target for David Icke who is all about the secret satanic societies and reptillian 'conspiracy theories'. yeah it really is far out there, lol I just did a quick search for 'jim morrison occult' and got this " Jim Morrison many times claimed connections to the occult andspecifically Voodoo or Voudun philosophy and magic. It was apart of his "path". The moniker "Mr. Mojo Risin" was an anagram-- a rearrangement of the letters in Jim Morrison. Mojo is a religious term describing shamanic "power icon" or affiliation. The African root Mo refers to the dark or darkness. Mojo is a specific African/Voodoun/Obeah traditional term. "I think that there are whole regions of images and feelingsthat are rarely given outlet in daily life... when they do comeout, they can take perverse forms" said Morrison circa 1968. Hegoes on to say that "the shaman is the healer, like the Witch-doctor." Morrison reiterates elsewhere that "we must not forget that the snake or the lizard is identified with the unconscious and the forces of evil..." So says the legendary "Lizard King". "The Lizard King" was one of Jim Morrison's occult code names. He was also called "The Exterminating Angel" in occult circles, according to film critic Gene Youngblood and others. In No One Hear Gets Out Alive authors Hopkins and Sugarman recount Morrison drinking blood with a Witch-initiate. In certain occult traditions, the use of blood combined with certain sexual acts is reginmen, part of a hidden technology for spell casting." http://www.illuminati-news.com/occult-morrison.htm Just one of many articles about his occult leanings. The dude was into alot of scary things, you don't just fuck around with witchcraft and blood rituals if you know what I mean. His affiliation is still hear-say though. Also thanks for pointing out that his dad was a high-ranking official in the military, that's actually what David Icke said, I was wrong about CIA affiliation.
Jim Morrison was sexy and charismatic.....I thought he was beautiful.....like a lot of other young girls at the time....but the reality is he was a very sad and self destructive person
This is the state of the American music scene right now. We have a whole generation of kids coming up who have never heard Jimi Hendrix or things like that, not their fault at all, just goes to show how close-circuited the music industry has become. Radio stations don't play Led Zeppelin or anything like that anymore and all the rock bands on MTV sound the same now.
exactly, their is no creativity left, that is why all new songs of today are super hits for a month or so and then they are completely forgotten... unlike the productions of the doors, hendrix, zeppelin, and pink floyd which will undoubtedly live on forever. the doors changed my whole perspective on the world when i first heard them. it was my psychedelic awakening hahaha
JIm Morrison is just a human. He tried to become more than one through enlightment not by making himselfa god on earth, whoch is great, but He was just a human anyway. He was actually kind of a jerk, to all these people who seem to worship him. I respect him as an idol and as a genius, but in his personal life he was kind of a loser. Not that I wouldn't love to meet him
I remember in the movie, with Val Kilmer, where Jim hops up onto a garbage can in the street outside a club and starts giving a speech to the crowd. That was a sign of his genius as a performer, but also a huge indication of his ego. His friends/bandmates looked embarassed, that's how I imagine it must have been to be around him in person sometimes.
